I'm a fan of Chinese food. Recently though, it's been a disappointment one after another. I used to go to Hao Hao's regularly, till they started messing up the orders and service. I tried Du Du in Golden Beach, didn't like atmosphere. There were argileh people, lots of indoor smoke and whiskey. The food, not so bad, but not that exciting. Tried Panda last night, it felt more Lebanese than Chinese. Du Du in Achrafieh, not so good food. Chopsticks, not even Chinese. Recommendations anyone?
Chinese diners, any best?
I've tried Jardins De Chine and it was okey. The atmosphere was great. But so far, the best Chinese I've tasted is Chopsticks. My friends tried a bunch, but they keep returning back to Chopsticks.

There was also, Memoire de Chine (Downtown), but it's closed now :-(

The best Chinese food (Served by real Chinese people) is Little China. It is at Monot, close to the music conservatoire. While going there you pass by St. Joseph University to your left.

ive tried it twice as my office is monot - but their lack of hygene is scary, and the food isnt too good and i'm sure its not too fresh as both times i went at 13:30 and they were empty
Jardin du Chine in zalka is great, but its a fine dining place, at tad expensive for the regular joe
Chopsticks is now a muchy mix of grease and starch
Du Du in achrafieh is probly the only one i still eat at although it's mostly dissaponting
maybe Jasmine Room can be ok
Are you serious? I've ate there more than a dozen now. Loved their food. Not sure how you found it lacking hygiene as their plates, spoons, and glasses are served clean. It is true that they might have very few people at 1:30 pm but this is only because not many dine there at that time. Try to go there at night or in the afternoon, and you'll be lucky to find a seat.Rubz wroteReal chinese people, but dirty and miserable:DBadieh wroteThe best Chinese food (Served by real Chinese people) is Little China. Hate to disappoint, but PF Chang's isn't Chinese or even close to it. It is still pretty good and if it ever makes it here, I would highly recommend the lettuce wraps. The chain was founded in Scottsdale, Arizona so you can tell how "Chinese" this would restaurant would be. :) I used to eat a lot at its less formal sister chain called Pei Wei'sZeRaW wrotethe best news is that P.F. That being said, I haven't seen any really decent Chinese, Mexican or Thai restaurants. They do too much to "lebanese" the foods here. I continue to look and hope and pray though.
I'll hog the thread and take the chance to ask if there's any mexican fast food* places in Lebanon?
* IMO, 19,000 LBP for a burrito is not fast food.

I tried DOUDOU or something in achrafieh, didnt like the food alot, but it was a great atmosphere. So far, chopsticks is one of the best.
If i dont see goose hanging, then its not chinese :P.

I like little china. It feels less like fast food, yet it is cheap. I know a Hao Hao (in jal el dib), it is dirt cheap, maybe the cheapest food you can get in a restaurant... but the meat tastes and looks kinda funny, not dirty or rotten but kinda overcooked and soaked for too long (beef meat looked almost as light as chicken meat). Anyway i dont feel like going there anymore.
Chopsticks in dbayeh is great, especially if you pick your food well... I'm thinking about the whole steamed fish.

Wasn't Chopsticks one of the restaurants using the rotten meat? I'm sure I heard it somewhere, but can't remember where.

I ate from chopsticks three times this month. The meat was just fine. The media tends to blow things out of proportion. Now, I am not saying there shouldn't be better food inspection, just that in that particular instance there's a whole scandal and no solid facts to back it up.
Samer, Chopsticks is super fine when it comes to hygiene. It's the menu I'm not so fascinated by. It just doesn't feel too Chinese, you know? It's like Chinese food replica, just not Chinese. You won't find most of what you eat elsewhere there, and you won't find most of what you eat there elsewhere. Seems like I might have to open up my own Chinese place, with Egyptian and Filipino staff.

If you watched the news about the rotten meat, you probably saw a relative of mine ;). He was involved in the op. In anycase, alot of resturants/hotels/supermarket take their meat from "Al natour". He was one of the biggest provider of meat in lebanon. Inany case, this issue had been for a while. I can confirm bad food (meat, vegies,corn.weat,oil,chips,fish,..etc) since 2009. But the reason why they are being persued now, to me atleast, is political. I cant say much, confidentiality ;).
In anycase, we got immune to this stuff :P. Well not really, but mainly they use preservatives that cause cancer. But this cancer doesnt show now, but it does later in our life. As the body is smart in eliminating compounds, but stupid when it comes to elements. Our body preserve the things that it denst know what to do. These "things" could be metals which are carcinogens.
In anycase, not all people took that expired meat, some store owners respect themselves too. So dont follow the media.

I love chopsticks! but to be honest lately their plates shrunk and the taste is not as good as it used to be. though there is one I always see called "The Jazmine Room" or something, is it good by any chance?
