Yes it has mac address control but I wouldn't say it will protect you from intruders.

How did they get access to the connection ?
Changing your SSID and password would be an easier and better choice.
Also be sure to use WPA2 and NOT WEP, as it is very easy to crack.
Thanks for the reply, following is what i did sofar:
1- changed the security, following is my configuration:
Security
Broadcast Network Name: Yes
Allow New Devices: New stations are allowed (automatically)
Security Mode: WPA-PSK
WPA-PSK Preshared Key: [my pass]
WPA-PSK Encryption: TKIP
WPA-PSK Version: WPA

2- Changed the password of the default user for the router (it was user/user)

i need mac filter as an extra step and im unable to find it on the router's configuration page.
Thanks, any advices?

A MAC Filter will be a huge overkill.
You also have to play with it each time a new device connects to your modem.
However , I'll see if I can find a tutorial on Google and will post it later :)
So you think with Above configuration im protected?
What do you mean by: "A MAC Filter will be a huge overkill" ? will this affects the speed?

Absolutely. A WPA/WPA2 Encrypted password and a anonymous SSID will the best and simplest protection anyone can use.
A MAC Filter is overkill means that , you don't need such protection. MAC Filters are usually used in private businesses. But even they don't use it.
So the main point is that a WPA.WPA2 password is the best choice to have.
Anything else will be too complicated, and overkill.
telnet to the router

on command prompt

"telnet"

"o 192.168.1.254"

(if you have w7, make sure you install telnet first from the add/remove - window components)

"menu"

idk if it has mac filtering but if it does this is where you'll find it

update: http://npr.me.uk/telnet.html
Just as an additional step, disable the broadcast SSID. It probably isn't as useful now, but it may prevent the "sneak and peak" type people.
it's already there but thomson have its own way of mac filtering you have 3 options from drop-down list
as below :
1-Allow New Devices: New stations are allowed (automatically) : no mac filter is applied
2-Allow New Devices: New stations are allowed (via registration) : mac filter applied and you have to click on the link below saying " search for wireless devices " this way your pc will be registered automatically when you click the search

3-Allow New Devices: New stations are not allowed : mac filter is applied to only the registered devices and you cant add more devices
cheers
can you deregister devices once registered without resetting the router?
you don't need to reset the modem if you enabled mac filter and lost accidentally connection to your pc
in this situation you to do this with a wired-connected pc to modem because mac filter is not applied to ethernet-wired connection then you can configure whatever

you can remove devices from modem list by going to :
Home Network > Devices > configure "on the right side of screen - up " and remove whatever devices you like
I tried that before. I had "New stations are allowed (via registration)" mode and had one device registered then I decided I don't want this device to be registered anymore, I removed it from the devices list, and tried connecting to my router AP again just to check, and it was allowed to connect so I'm not sure removing devices would also deregister them. :/
well it's working great for me my friend ,because this is how i managed to help alot of hacked thomson's
5 months later
what is the new ogero router username and password cz i want change the wifi password
