Help with strobe schematic

Greeting fellow geeks :)

I am a software geek and I'm kinda intrigued into learning about electronics and such, I'm doing Terminal SG and we didn't have the opportunity to learn about transistors last year. So I'm having a hard time understanding this circuit.

I can assemble it and I have all the required pieces. But can somebody please explain how this schematic works?

This is a basic astable multivibrator (flip flop).
