Well there's something I don't like about this, but I am not sure.
The guy at a local place (near Saida) tells me they got it for $300. An APS instead would cost around $100. Batteries not included.
Is this way off?
The thing I am searching for is fit for a single tower machine with a 22" LCD, along with router and modem. Am I giving away my money?

Well you're asking for a 1000 watt UPS, so that's about 1700VA. An APS is not the proper power backup for a computer. I recommend you go with a factory built UPS system. Check PCandParts, they have this:
MGE Eaton E-Series NV 2000H 2000VA UPS w/ Power Management USB Port $306.00+VAT
I do have an APS system at home; built by SONICS (made here in Lebanon). It works well but I still don't trust it as much as I trust my MGE UPS.
Custom built UPS for 300$ = expensive and not worth it
Custom built APS for 100$ = good if it's a 1000VA APS, if it is higher, then built quality might be bad, though whatever APS you get is not suitable for a Computer

How much would I expect this to last? Can I place in a large battery? I am looking for ~2hrs of computer time. The local guy claims 5 hour times on a large battery. Is this possible? How much does your Eaton last?

The Eaton is a backup ups that will last at minimum load 25 minutes enough time to save your work and shutdown not to play on it. I recently bought the Eaton mentioned before from pcandparts, it's excellent.
