Hey! My sister has a Samsung Galaxy Ace with Android 2.2.1 and unrooted. (I never really understood what rooting and unrooting are, all I know is that it voids the warranty).
After I convinced her to get Alfa 3G 100 MB, she subscribed. After the call, she got the SMS, and to install the APN settings, and they got automatically installed. BUT, some apps aren't working. Internet and UC Browser and Dolphin Browser are working, but Nimbuzz and Messenger WithYou and Whatsapp and TrueCaller don't work.
So all in all, only web-browsing works :( I downloaded DroidWall from Market and selected the apps (whatsapp...) to work with 3G, but still no luck!
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Did yo try turning it off and on?
Is packet data on?
Also have you selected the correct APN?

Maybe there's a setting somewhere in the phone to disable/enable internet for these other apps. I can't tell you much, I have an iPhone.

First check AvoK95 recommendations, second make sure you are in a 3G area, i noticed with others that most of the apps dont work if the connection changes from 3g to edge.
p.s where are you at? Location

Reboot the phone and also check your APN settings in settings->Wireless and networks->mobile networks->Access point names
you should select the "Alfa internet.mic1.com.lb"
If its selected press the menu button and press Reset to defaults, then press the "Alfa internet.mic1.com.lb" (this worked for me once)

When you turn on mobile connection, make sure it's written H on the status bar. If it's E then you cannot access to applications using Edge, That's for only web browsing.

Never mind got it fixed! Here is what I did:
1- Deleted Alfa APN
2- Created a new one with these:
-APN: internet.mic1.com.lb
-Proxy: 192.168.23.50
-Port: 80
-Username: mic1
-Password: mic1
-Server, MMSC, MMS proxy, MMS port: Not set
-MCC: 415 (default)
-MNC: 01 (default)
-Authentication type: PAP
-APN type: internet
And it worked!!
Thanks for your replies!! :D
