I am considering buying a tablet from abroad. Do you think it is safe and reliable? Has anyone ordered any piece of Hardware from abroad before?
this was discussed before ....

Anyway, as a general case, order from the states, it's always cheaper ! And for your item, you are only going to save if you have someone coming from abroad that will bring it for you.
Usually fragile items are well packed, so no fear. You can order your Wacom from Amazon and have it shipped but you will end up paying something close to what PcAndParts or Virgin is selling it to.
I always order Hardware, Books, BluRays etc ... from abroad. Your best shot is always Amazon :)
Thanks for the reply... I have tried Amazon, but it seems they don't deliver Hardware to Lebanon.
Here's what you can do:

Get a shopandship account for $45 from http://www.shopandship.com/default.aspx, shopandship is related to Aramex. they will give you a virtual address in the UK,USA or China you can choose, you'll pay $45 as a One Time Fee for the registration.

After registering your account, they'll send you an address it looks like:

UK account address:

Your Full Name
Account # (Your Shop and Ship UK account number)
Aramex House Old Bath Road
Colnbrook, Slough, Berkshire SL3 0NS
Tel: 01753-210399

Then order from amazon, pay with a credit card and ship it to shopandship UK address.

after that Aramex will ship it from their address in the UK to Lebanon so the virtual address they gave you is just an Aramex address in the UK and you can receive your item from any near Aramex branch in Lebanon.

so what it cost you:

1- $45 One Time registration fee in shopandship
2-shipping fee from the UK address to Lebanon

and to know what is the shipping fee you can also check it , it depend on your stuff weight .
and you can calculate it by the " rates calculator " you can find it on the shopandship.com homepage

for instance if your "order" weight is 5 kg shipping fees from UK to Lebanon will cost you $88.40

there is also a faq in the website you can read it where it tells you how long you will wait until you receive your order and it's not more than 5 days in case it's from the UK to Lebanon.

You keep the virtual address so you can anytime order and ship and you will just pay shipping fees!

so that's what it costs you and that's the easiest way to do it .

hope that little guide will benefit everyone
Kind Regards.
Sup3r, thats an awesome idea! although shipping is still VERY EXPENSIVE
If I want the product to be delivered by Fedex or DHL, are there any additional costs for customs and TVA?
Yep, if the item for whatever reason is held by the customs (I used to order without problems for years, but two orders this year were held at the customs for no reason!!), you will have to pay (in addition to 10% VAT and 5 to 15% customs) up to $100 as clearance fees!!! so be careful, unless you know someone working with the customs :p
But how can I know if the product is held by the customs? They should contact me?
By tracking it using DHL or Fedex website, you will see that it was held at clearance. They usually call you and tell you that they can clear it for you for an additional fee (at least Fedex does this)
Just ask shatilov from the forum, he does everything for you and he delivers it to you.
Didn't know about shatilov :p, interesting..
