Complete system vs buying parts separately

Im planning on buying a desktop in the near future so i was checking the offer from pcandparts and usually if you buy are ready rig it is usually cheaper. http://pcandparts.com/basesys.htm

The Items cost as a whole $1255.00, but when I added them they were $1,191.50 excluding Star 120W Speakers Black and PC Discount.

I just need to make sure that I priced and added them correctly.

That's not necessarily true. Buying a ready-built rig is not necessarily cheaper.

As for the PSU, avoid Litepower at ALL costs! It's not a good PSU for gaming systems. It may be fit for low-end office PCs, but definitely not such systems.

Second of all, why are you fitting a GTX 560 to a Core i7 2600K? You either need to step down on the processor, or step up on the graphics card. I recommend the second option.

The GTX560 is a good card, but it matches the GTX460, which is older. I recommend you go for AT LEAST a GTX 560Ti, or better yet, a GTX 570, or even better, AMD's new mid-range cards are coming in January. You will be able to get more video memory, better performance, better power consumption, etc... The 560 / Ti's 1GB video memory is sometimes limiting if you're running resolutions such as 1080p (maybe even less too).

The monitor is not all that good IMHO. Spring for a higher end Samsung, and a 24 incher would be nicer, but a 22 inch is nevertheless good. Aim for 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080), you don't need to go any lower, it's the most common resolution, along with 1680 x 1050. It's 30% more intensive to render for, but IMHO it's worth it.

Again, I recommend you go for custom built PCs. Ready-built will always hinder you in some way, and if they match the specs exactly as you want them, they may tend to be expensive.

I know it's a prebuilt system from pcandparts, but I pinpointed out each component. You need to add tax too, don't forget.

as yasamoka said, buying a complete built system doesn't mean it's cheaper.
Also when buying a complete system you can't be sure if the person who built it has used all new parts, some use used (But clean) parts so that they earn more money and give a better price.
Also when buying a new system from PC and Parts, they will tell you that it's "Not available" and offer you another system that is more expensive.
So I suggest you build your own system by buying and choosing the parts yourself because if you buy a complete system you won't know what parts are used or when they come from or if they have warranty or not.

Note: You have not right to give out any information I have given you to the company, even if it's anonymous please keep my opinions and other peoples opinions inside the forum and not to the public.

build it yourself but don't buy a graphic card right now, wait a month or so, amd cards are going to be released in january and nvidia kepler soon after that, wait for all the card to release then get the best one!

Apart from the time and effort needed - it can take up to 1 day of work - which can be a real problem, I think there are nothing but advantages to building it yourself - unless of course you are exceptionally clumsy or ignorant in these things, but I assume most people here are not.

The first time I built my system, it took me half an hour to fasten the CPU cooler properly, since I was really paranoid about thermal paste, fastening, etc...The other parts went smoothly, it shouldn't take more than 4 hours if you do cable management. If no cable management, then much less than 4 hours.

I considered all the problems that might happen. Heck with that much time you could even go back to the shop and exchange a part if it is not working.
Note that if a part is defectuous, which happens, it will take you much longer then that to return your complete system and have it fixed.

Very true indeed. And nothing is more satisfying than building your system yourself, when you're careful, of course. Anyways, in these times, it's hard to break a PCB, or knock off a capacitor, considering the sheer size, thinkness, and use of solid capacitors which are more securely fastened to the PCB.
