Yes i am aware of the sticky-ed threads, but unfortunately some us have yet to have our internet upgraded despite our respective centrals getting the upgrade
That being said, i hope this thread doesn't get closed as it may be seen as "already mentioned "
Anyway, onto the point:
As you you all may know, all/most lebanese and more or less all ISP's and Ogero should be switching their customers to at least 1mbit. Apprently. Anyway, i would like to document the areas who have YET to have such said upgrades despite their centrals being upgraded.
This is not a "Voice your opinion about the internet" kind of thread - it's not meant to be a rant which would go against the forum etiquette and i don't believe it is "rantful" or "rant-inspiring" in its nature (although i would have liked to share with you a conversation that i had with ogero; that being said it will just inspire hatred)
Anyway, to those effected, that being said if you have or haven't got your upgrade and if you did get it is it up to speed ?
Please keep it like so, ill use my case as an Example
ISP: Ogero
Original Speed: 256kb/s
Upgraded Speed: N/A
Upgraded Speed (actual speed when it reaches home): N/A
Central Upgraded: Yes
Central: Khaldeh
That being said IMEWE seems to be working fine (ever since they launched it way before the internet upgrades) - as i have noticed a prior drop from 150ms to 100ms whilst pinging any remote server in EU.
Thanks for any input.

The overall QoS is good. Latency and speeds are stable. But sometimes for about an hour from 11 pm till 12 am IDM seems to throttle video streaming, i tried YouTube then downloaded something using Free Download Manager and the streaming was at about 1 Mbps while the download maintained the regular 214 KBps.

Hey, nice thread, straight forward. I would suggest to add an item to that list: Distance from Central Office, it can give an idea on the radius of the upgraded zones

Distance to CO: 1.7km as the crow flies, 5km or more if taking actual roads (which is the probable route of the cables).
The connection is not bad; the biggest issue are the frequent disconnects.

update: I managed (by nagging) to get a 1Mbps connection though my area wasnt upgraded as its far from the CO (the CO was upgraded).
ISP: OGERO

ActualSpeed: ~850Kb/sec

With the infrastructure in place and the distance limitation, i can say this is the best i can get.

Please be sure to differentiate between abbreviation for KiloBYTE (kB) and Kilobit (kb or kbit). Because otherwise you would have 8 megabits.

Called Ogero, they said the central is upgraded but my area's location is far from the central (which is not because I can see it closeby from the balcony), and that's the reason why we won't get 1mbps now.
My friend who lives a couple of blocks away from me has IDM 1mbps, when I told Ogero about that, they said they don't know how the other private ISPs are able to technically do this.

ISP: IDM
Original Speed: 1 mbps
Upgraded Speed: 4 mbps
Upgraded Speed ~ 1 mbps (I'm 1 km away from the central office)
Central Upgraded: Yes
Central: Mounsef
IDM says ogero didn't fully upgrade Mounsef CO. It only boosted speeds up to 1 mbps. So I guess the upgrade is 2 phases?! I don't get it... sounds stupid... and I haven't checked if Ogero or other private ISPs are offerring the faster speeds in my area... I'm honestly interested in the fastest speed i can get which is the 8 mbps... that's if it's available...

Guys, anybody is located >1 km from the CO and he got the upgrade ??

amkahal wroteGuys, anybody is located >1 km from the CO and he got the upgrade ??
I did, but
not automatically at all. I had to work it out with one guy at the CO who opened the 1Mbps just for me.
As far as i know, most people living over 1KM from the COs did not get the upgrade.
I live around 4KM and been testing the 1Mbps for three days now. Cannot say its stable; frequent disconnections as SN Margin is way low 5-7dB.
