Hello!! I have been here a while and have not noticed a single post about 3D design. So i wanted to open this topic to share my experience with 3D graphics, and to hear everyone else's experiences.

I started a few years ago, when i was eleven i think, and i got a copy of autodesk Maya i believe. I learnt of tutorials on the internet, and became quite obsessed with it. I then moved on to Cinema4D a year after and found it alot more enjoyable. After a year of using it, i returned to Maya, but i was quite happy until I spent a day with an actual 3D designer whom i knew. He convinced me to go for 3Ds Max, which i had know about for a while but never thought about switching. This was last year and i am in love with 3Ds max, currently working on a slow motion sniper bullet flight like the ones in the movie "Wanted".

Any one here into 3D design? please share your experience!

Thanks for reading,

iam not really into 3d design but i would really like to see your renders
well a couple years back I took some lessons in Maya. I found it a bit hard and didn't continue (Sadly) anyway, hope you enjoy it.
Well right now i can find a couple of things that remain undeleted on my hard disk

here they are http://youtu.be/MP7P9_gaE5M

Babum i hope you go back into it, it is extremely fun to have the power to make what ever you want
it is, maybe in the summer I will get back to 3d design, who knows? Do you recommend me beginning with maya again or trying 3d max?
what OS do you use? because 3Ds MAX is only available on windows

Maya is more aimed towards movie making, while 3Ds Max is more towards making models for games and such.
But anything that can be made with one can be made with the other. Cinema4D is also an option, but it is somewhat less powerful since it does not have such a big community as the others do, and it is really hard to find tutorials for it.

If you are into programming 3Ds Max uses MaxScript, while Maya uses the much more know MEL, but it aso offers Python as an alternative.

If you want to go into game making, i suggest Blender, it is open source and contains a game engine built in. It also uses Python as its scripting language.

But at the end, go with what suites you. Max is the most popular, Maya comes next, and the rest follow with a big difference.

Also Max and Maya cost over 3000$ each, but you can get a cracked copy just about anywhere. The same cannot be said about Cinema4D or Bender, you have to download them online.

P.S.
Max and Maya are both owned by Autodesk, they are very similar, so switching is very easy, so choose one, and if you do not like it switch.
they are awesome man i liked the light effect
Thank you ibxoful, these are just a sample of the things i have made over the years
thanks. though talking of price, I thought maya was a freeware.
