Tigerheart.Hackers wroteDo you still have the box? With WD, you don't need to have the full series number, just the family. So, if you have for example WD Live TV, then the update package will work for all the WD Live TV family. What's the name of the product's family you have? Try to find the name, and we'll link you to the update package, which should solve your file reading options problem (MKV is awesome!)
Actually there is no box, no serial numbers, no manual, no writing on the device to indicate who the manufacturer is--which is the problem. Whenever I hook up the device to my computer, it gets recognized as wd10 eacs-00d6b1 which is a Western Digital 1 gig standalone drive. I have googled it to death and not found the information I was looking for. Aside from the media files I have on the drive (mainly movies and TV shows), there are no hidden files or partitions I can see--at least the ones recognized by windows. That is what I want to explore the drive and see if I can find the what software is being used and hopefully update it. It may be linux based, but i don't know.
