Retrogamer
Hello everyone,
I am a passionate gamer since the age of 3, and I have been collecting videogame hardware ever since.
I already checked the couple of other threads on this website about retro gaming in Lebanon, and I was interested to find out that there are a lot of you out there who share that common passion.
I do have almost every single videogame console ever released along with legit copies, some of which are still sealed. I've bought most of these from my travels abroad and from the internet.
I've already tried covering most of retro shops around Lebanon, but I must say it's extremely difficult to come around decent ones.
So what about you guys? What kind of retro consoles are you into? Are you collectors who appreciate your gaming hobby or just a consumer like most of the next-gen gamers tend to be?
By the way if anyone's interested, I am willing to sell/trade consoles/games. I know I won't be able to find any Turbogrfx 16 owners, but I'm willing to bet there's lots of Genesis/Megadrive fans out there!

The rest is history .

Retrogaming still has its place, well i use emulators for retro's since its hard and expensive to purchase and maintain originals.
With remakes and new 2D titles on PSN and XBLA, its nice to play modern style retro games. Sure they well never make up to the true 8-16 bit memories.
Retrogamer
Well I'm not a fan of emulators myself, because it's never as good as the real thing running on the real hardware. And from a collector's perspective, emulation is worthless. The good side is that it's free, but I'd rather just gather money and buy one thing at a time.
By the way, some of the ports on XBLA and PSN are inferior to the originals. They are either half-arsed conversions or totally ruined remakes.
Retrogamer
On a side note, that's what my current sega setup looks like. There's still the Dreamcast and Sega 32X missing but I do own them. The games you see are all authentic originals with their instruction booklets in mint condition.
The picture shows the Sega master system, Sega Saturn, Sega Megadrive model II with sega cd add-on and a Genesis model 3.

I replaced all my retro consoles with emulators.
They just take so much space
Retrogamer
If anyone's interested I am willing to trade my limited edition white PS3 with a 500GB internal HDD. (the box says 40GB but the hard disk was replaced for more storage)
All wires included with the system in-boxed and 3 games. (Yakuza 4, Super Street fighter 4 arcade edition and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing).

@ZeRaw, Emulators are not 100% accurate. Besides I hate selling my old systems because there's a nostalgic value to them. I grew up playing those things, some are 15/20+ years and still working like a charm. No overheating, YLOD or firmware updates.
monkey-d-luffy
You sure do love retrogaming (:
Retrogamer
@Monkey Luffy, Yeah, I love retro gaming, especially anything related to Sega hardware.I was part of the Sega-16 forums and an active contributor, but stopped activity due to some circumstances. I even bought the Sega Saturn back when it was almost impossible to find any retail or even non-legit copies anywhwere in lebanon. Most people here were Playstation gamers, so Sega was almost eclipsed. It's too sad that the company stopped manifacturing system hardware. I hate Xbox and PS with a passion. Gaming isn't what is used to be anymore.

@Retrogamer : why do you blame the PS and Xbox for the decline in gaming quality ?

Well if so I wish you luck in finding your NeoGeo CD (although it's quite impossible)
But are you sure about trading a PS3 for this?
Flakk
That is a good collection you have.
I am personally looking for a working Sega Dreamcast console. Do you have one for sale ?
Retrogamer
@unforgiven, There's no variety in games anymore, no more originality either.
We are overflowed by horrid first person shooters. It is the new standard set by the american gaming industry since the Xbox made surface in the console wars.
It doesn't take a genius to see how awful gaming had become.
@Monkey Luffy, Yeah I am pretty sure I am willing to swap my Ps3 for a NeoGeo-CD. I barely ever played it, and its curently boxed and placed in a drawer. That's how irrelevant it has become to me. It's still better than Xbox 360 though. Microsoft's system is probably the most defective heap of crap in the history of gaming.
Retrogamer
@Flakk, I have overcloked Dreamcasts and regular ones. I can sell you any if you want with 2 controllers, 2 VMUS and a rumble pack. I have retail games, but you can download isos off the internet and play them on the go since the dreamcast has no system protection. What price would suit you the most? PM me if you're interested.

true but then it's xbox that was the main reason, personally i think DLC's and pre-order bonus' and that kinda thing is destroying/destroyed gaming... oh and people who give in to marketing and buy games based on their title (MW3 comes to mind)... what this is doing is telling people that the gaming industry remains unexploited and can generate revenues higher than music and movies.
But on the bright side there are still some indie developers out there that are producing quality stuff (braid, world of goo just a few examples)

Retrogamer I PMed you.

Hey Retrogamer this is the same user name i use on a couple of the retrogaming forums myself :)
I also used to be an little active on some of those forums but mostly on arcade gaming and emulation.
First let me talk about emulation its inevitable in the end cause hardware dies in the end and crt's aswell (just a note i see using composite video on those consoles i hope your using better to connect video signal to the back of the TV).
Second emulation is very good these days for almost all the old systems and most of them you will not notice any difference if you have the proper video configuration and controllers connected.
I myself had a couple of emulation setups some went to garbage cause damaged CRT's and others disassembled and need some setup maintenance which i have no time for these days.
Also i got an XBOX 360 only for XBLA games and some of the games are on the level of what we used to play in the old days and am not talking about game remakes but new Retro style games.
