  • PCandParts price rising, stock falling

I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems like PCANDPARTS are running out of stock and constantly raising their prices. I've been checking their page daily for new WD external HDD, and all I see is new N/A items and raised prices. I remember one drive that used to be ~$70.00, it's now for $112.00.

Just an observation.
why don't buy it from a physical store? I've seen many around in hamra and in radioshack

I usually get most of my electronic purchases from PCANDPARTS because their prices were very reasonable and the closest to the original manufacturer's retail price. I already bought an external drive from them 5 months ago, now the charger got totaled so I sent it back. They can't fix it nor replace it since they don't have any similar parts, so my account with them got refunded. Problem is I can't find anything worth buying as a replacement from them because of the very few choices and high prices. I hope it's temporary.
yea i noticed the high prices also in all storage stuff like internal and external HDD and as you said .. all out of stock
I think this is due to the recent floods in Thailand (source: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/a86771a6-0149-11e1-b177-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1c5erlGI6). Many companies were affected including Western Digital. So the prices are rising in all parts of the world. I have been monitoring the prices on PC and Parts. They are increasing by an average of 3$ a day. However, yesterday I saw the biggest increase (up to 30$) on some drives. Apparently this problem has created a shortage and it won't be solved until mid of next year.
As ziad said, the flood actually only affected Werstern digital and seagate. Also sony, cannon, and nikon (so expect camera prices to jack up also).

But think as a salesman for a sec, you have big stock of hitachi and whatever brands, if you raise the hdd of the affected companies, people will buy the cheapest and leave ur stock sitting in your face. So he raised all the prices of hdd to compensate.
hehe, prices have now tripled from a week till now , a WD 1TB black internal costs now in USA $200.00 whereas it was here in leb like 10 ago for $87.00or somehting
there is will be no supply of WD for the next two to three months
