Hey
Anyone here with a working offline GPS app for android?
I'm trying to get Navitel Navigator to fully work with an nm2 detailed Lebanon map.
Everything is working fine and the map is great but the big problem is that I can't demo route.
So it's pretty much useless unless I follow roads on my own.
Is it a Navitel version problem?
Anyone here who can help?
i remember copilot worked well with my friend on nexus 1
I am currently using OSMAnd along with free vector maps for Lebanon (requires Arabic support). If you don't have Arabic support, you can use many other sources including Google cached maps. If you require further help, tell me.
I don't have arabic support on my current software.
What do you advise mate?
Ziad can you please mention which one is good (only english needed) with offline maps and turn by turn navigation for lebanon.
This is the market listing for the app: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.osmand.plus

The developer has a google codes site where you can download the nightly builds for free: http://download.osmand.net/latest-night-build/

You have the choice of using numerous map sources. Vector maps are pretty small at 3 MB only. However, they are a bit slower to browse through and require more processing power (though on my Galaxy S 2 they seem just as fast as the Google caches). However, if you don't have Arabic support, then text will not render properly. So you can use the Google maps cached images in addition to the POI pack downloaded from the app itself. Another thing I noticed is that the app does not seem to distinguish between streets that are "b3ks el seir". So it always picks the best route (kind of like most Lebanese drivers :P ).
Where can I download OsmAnd+ for free?
and where's lebanon's map?
Thank you

Haha, pure Lebanese app.
and for navigation there's navdroyd they use same offline data u just have to rename them
There is Sygic on marketplace. THe best i think but ive never used it.
Finding Lebanon's maps and the ability to navigate are the main hurdles I'm facing.
I use Navitel and it is working fine with me; but the map is old:s can anyone provide an up to date map? because my map did actually take me twice through dead end buildings' garages considering it as a route!
on a side note I have the setup file for navitel so if I can help in anyway let me know:D
Hey Metalloy.
Would be great if you can share with me your Navitel apk. Especially if demo route is fully working :)
I have a 2010 nm2 map converted from Garmin GPS format.
Is this the one you're using?
I dont know what map it is, it is named lebanon map no year mentioned, is their anyway to know?
and how can I share my navitel.apk with you? everything is working fine and tested on galaxy s2, xperia arc and xperia x10.
Hey can you please send it to fernandbteich@gmail.com
Demo route is working on Galaxy S2? It's the full version apk?
Please send any required information with it.
Thanks a lot. :)
yes full version with very very very very accurate positioning;)
please send the map you have on maher_s_cafe@hotmail.com
tomorrow I'll try to send you the file from the university's internet:D

Hey
I sent you the file to your email. Please test the map and don't forget to send me the apk.
Cheers

Thanks
Fernand I tried the map u sent to me, although it is more updated,
I cannot calculate route using it, it always shows me a straight line from point A to point B
so I suspect that your Navitel.apk is fully functional, only the map is not gd for route calculation
I can send you my map if you want but it is a little old and not all routes will be correct! :s
