What newspaper said that?
Ilia are you in the lebanese university?

Or am i the only one here? I have the makeup tests and my graduation is stuck because of this sh*t!!!
"foreign language background" ?
rolf wrote"foreign language background" ?
He only speaks Arabic. No french and no English whatsoever!!!

Banana Republic?
Yea well, truth to be told, even the DEANS of some of the collages are not educated. Or even have a degree that is related.

it's all about nepotism, guys.

We should have a system like all unis. Attendance, homework, presentations, projects, quizes, midterms and finals. All we have is midterms 30 and finals over 70. If you got sick or somthing wrong happened to you, you fail. And if you get a report from a dr it will do you no good. You still fail, and to top it all, the only hospital that deals with our uni is AUH. Funny how the cheapest university deals with one of the most expensive hospitals. Also what if i live outside beirut and got sick? Ill have to drive my A$$ all the way to beirut to get medical hlp at AUH to get a report and then fail?

Those colleges by what you say are indeed out of track but the Lebanese university is not and should not become one of them because of the banana system they work with.

Look at BAU, AUB, LAU at least those universities are indeed respectful and has great presidents with great backgrounds while our lebanese president (which doesnt represent the whole lebanese btw) university most likely was elected by force and the usual banana.
it is never about the uni, it will always be about the student. A curious; motivated student will make something out of his life no matter where he learned, what he learned or who taught him.
How about you organize a campaign to help teach him some languages?
Can be online, but needs to be Led by LU people :)

What you say is true on an individual level, but just think of it this way, for a president to stay up to date to keep the university in top shape, he or she needs to attend conferences, read all different kinds of articles, and so on. This will reflect on the university as a whole unit regardless of the education given.

On another note, with all due respect, taxi drivers know how to throw few words in English or French....
C'mon, do you really think a guy with a Ph.D does not know a foreign language? That's just a made up rumor by the "opposition" to make it sound like the current parties in the government are rewarding the guy for backing them up when they resigned from the previous government. What they are trying to say is: "This government is not putting the right man in the right place".
This is nonsense. He is a very knowledgeable man.
