Intel DP67BG = Worst P67 Mobo

Been running this Mobo for 2 months now, and what more can I say? There are so many problems with this board, Heck the last BIOS (2053) was very buggy almost bricked it!

The problem that I still couldn't get rid of is sometimes when I turn it on it shuts itself suddenly then re-starts on its own, At first I thought it was a PSU problem hence I wasted my money and bought another one just to make no difference!

Any P67BG owner here facing the same behavior?

I really don't recommend this board.

i have the same board, and had the same issue, after tampering around with the case (im not exaclty sure what i did it was random) it just suddenly "fixed" itself

I remember googling around, and people with the same mobo had the same issue. They could only get it to work with an out of case boot. Subsequent RMA's of both CPU and Mobo didn't fix the issue for people - neither did PSU swap out and what not

For me this is exactly what happened:

1. Turn on (cold boot) works well from first time
2. Shutdown
3. Try to turn on, bootloop
4. Again and again bootlopp
5. Switch off PSU from power button on the back, wait a little, swtich it back on, then switch PC on and voila it works
6. Dunno why it was just like that for some time - and then the problem magically disappeared (i have never BIOS updated since i've never needed it before)

I built a pc with th same motherboard, and didnt have this issue.

You see you should not tighten the skrews on your motherboard when putting it in a case. Also alot of cases are bad when it comes to being conductive all over.
We all experienced cases where if you touch it anywhere you will get electricuted, that is bad. It builds up and can fry a component and brick your motherboard, and it might take some parts with it.
Try turning it on outside your case, and if it works, put somthing between the skrews and case, i.e. washers.

get a .BIO file of the motherboards bios from intels website
burn it to a CD
remove the jumper from the motherboard
turn on the PC and insert the disk
wait a few seconds so that it flashes the bios manually

The problem isn't continuous, and when it happens it shuts before POSTing, I'm not facing any boot-loop I don't know if you meant to "force" a boot-loop.. I hope mine magically disappears too ;-)

I might try that later but I've already used this case with other MOBOs and everything was running well.

Already flashed mine and that didn't help.

yeah, POST wouldnt "show" when it used to happen to me - lights on, fans spin a little, lights off - and the process repeats

try what Beej suggested - this board is VERY picky mobo, the slightest wrong contact somehwere will lead to this - i mean its more a less a safety feature -i think i indirectly fixed it with a little cable management - im pretty sure i had some contact issue somewhere.

Also if this helps , when i used to have this problem it would boot fine at first, but after a shutdown and then me trying to turn it on it would have that loop before POST that your having - as i said i fixed this at first by turning off the PSU and then back on.

you need a new board since this one is one of those defect chipset ones , you have to look for REV 3.0 and up and nothing less

Am sure its rev 3.0. Boot issues are not related to older p67 chipsets. The problem was in the connectivity of the chipset. The sata connectors specifically, kiled hdd/ssd in matter of weeks...

That was the only poblem, and if indeed he does have an old chipset, he can connect everything on the sata 6g and all is well (if you dont want to rma).

but because of the chipset wouldn't the board short and cause it to shutdown unexpectedly ?

No, the problem is just with dying hdd/ssd and sometimes to an extent dvd/bluray drives.

Here's some updates:

Last night I did what "Beej" suggested, disconnected everything except my CPU, turned it on outside (on a Retail box) many times and it didn't shut. I remounted it in my case powered it up again and again but suddenly it did turn off while starting... I assumed there's a short occurring somewhere in my case therefore removed it again powered it up outside (just to be sure) and it did shut as-well! WHYYY!!!?

Wasted my time, got tired as hell..nevertheless I had to do this.

Now that I've remembered. I faced a boot-loop in the past, I used to turn it on, everything powers up, fans run at high speed for 5 sec then it shuts, turns itself on and the same thing happens again and again and I remember I got a message saying "BIOS detected unsuccessful POST attempts...etc" but man, this behavior disappeared long time ago heheh this Board is seriously mysterious!

Do you guys think I should RMA this thing? I've already read about other people facing the same thing.
I don't know, it would be easier if Intel admits if this is a normal behavior or another bug.

i suggest you RMA it and try to convince them to exchange it to another board like the Intel DH67CL

From a p67 to an h67? Noway Avo, he will not be able to do anything with that motherboard, oc or tweak, let alone it lacks features and pci-e for multi gpu.

NofaceNoshape: Try to troubleshoot the atx skrews thats doing the short. Try to remove the 1 @ the top corner and the one next to 24pin.

I siggest getting washers, put them between the motherboard and skrews from the bottom.

Edit: Do not tighten the skrews you dont need to...
