I suggest 2 connections keep the one with sodetel and get the cheapest package from ogero for the ping. You will only use it for games so no need for more than 4gb really.
i got put back on fiber optics after sending a msg on facebook they told me to reset router and it was back to normal 80ms ping ,it seems that calling and emailing does not work, for some reason the only way to get good service is via facebook -_-

I concur, and that's the sad reality about all ISPs. They just don't want to lose clients so they lie and pretend everything is fine at their end.
well its been two weeks now and my internet still sucks :(, what do you recommend changing the router or the phone line? and i'm open for ideas too
When I first subscribed with sodetel I had an ogero zhone router. The internet was bad and their solution was to sell me a new router. I didn't listen to them(I'm was not going to fork 100$ so maybe that is the problem, plus the support are not exactly extremely brilliant, nor do they really take the time to analyze your problem) long story short, in the end turns out the phone filters were bad. There was interference between my phone and the internet router. I forgot how I tested for that though. I think I unplugged all my phones and checked if the situation improved.
Aly wrote^^ Fixed IP from Sodetel and pay more $$$ or switch ISP. I dont think you have other choices.
Spend 70$ for a fixed sodetel ip and 2 mbps? meanwhile ogero sells you the fast latency for 18$
If you can spend 70$, ogero will give you 4 mbps and 25 GB quota, and the unlimited download at night, which you can easily get 10 GB a night from. I forgot what the sodetel quota for their 70$ was, I believe it was 15 GB and the bandwith 2 mbps. Half what you can actually get for that money

Sodetel's internet is so unstable. I love how I can abuse the download at night and reach really high download speed, but it's horrible for gaming/browsing/streaming.

The reason I picked it is because it wasn't horrible for gaming before the new Internet speeds, and Ogero did not have the unlimited quota at night.

Now I am stuck with a 6-8 Mbps Internet connection that is quite shitty for gaming/browsing/streaming, but beautiful for downloading.

Any way I can switch to Ogero without having to wait like a month without Internet. My parents, sister and I panic without Internet. It's really a catastrophe when the Internet dies for 5 minutes. I can't imagine a month.

I think you should address your issue on Sodetel's Facebook page. I guess you're talking about the high latency. I tried once to ask them for help on Facebook, and it's been more than four months with low latency (say 90 - 100ms). They're nice about it on Facebook in general. So give it a try if you didn't yet.
Ah I see. This is not the only issue, but the down/up speed is not constant. It fluctuates too much. Whenever I call them concerning my issues, they blame it all on my router (not their connection or their modem). I retired my router recently because it got old (got old as in started assigning the same IP address for several machines), and purchased a new one and I am still facing the same problems.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will do that.

Guys, they are driving me crazy, ping is 500 ms,,,, YES 500 MS,
after calling the guy, he told me, hmmm it seems you are playing online gaming, i replied by no, but 500 ms sucks, he insisted that its normal,
then he said wait a moment, try now, and magically its 100 ms again, but he insisted that it will be back to 500ms,
and he offered me a gaming package with a constant 100 ms latency but 1Mb speed at 77$,

i am thinking of moving to ogero...
what do you recommend guys?
While Ogero might be better overall, they still have their share of the problems. I have been having lots of ping timeouts for the past few days to the point where online gaming is nearly impossible.
Moreover moving to another ISP means he will have to spend some time without any internet.
If you have the unlimited package, that's normal, if you don't, MOVE TO OGERO.
ramy58 wroteIf you have the unlimited package, that's normal, if you don't, MOVE TO OGERO.
I have the 2-4 Mb package, with unlimited night quota, i usually perform my downloads at work, but the connection is really intolerable, only download is fine, but latency and packet loss is huge, if this kind of problems persist i am thinking of moving to ogero with the 70's$ per month...

I have been having 100-120 ping for 10 months + . Yesterday I was playing Dota2 , the internet went down for 5 seconds and came back as a beast of 400 ms and I am still stuck with that.

I called them today and as u guessed they said its normal :(

I live in Mansourieh 100 meters away from the DSL 'central' .

Same here, I have a 8Mbps from sodetel, yesterday night the router disconnected and reconnected, and i got a ping of 350, used to be 90-100. I Called them last night, they said its an international problem, and it may take a couple of days. I then called them today, they said its normal because the connection is shared and if i need a ping i must take the dedicated package ( which is very very very bad). VISP sells the fix IP 11$ and 4 Mbps unlimited up and down for 77$ which its actually what I'm paying for the 8Mbps from Sodetel. I'm going to wait a couple of days, if they don't solve it I'm going to switch to VISP.

I live in Adonis ~100 m from central, My line can handle up to 16 Mbps. Concerning VISP as i understood from them, the packages are unlimited and if you want a real IP with it its just +11$ to your package.
Called the night shift crew now, they told me they are doing maintenance on their servers and its temporary. we got 3 stories now, anyways I will wait till the end of the month to decide.
The ping is back to normal (slightly worst than what I usually get but ok ~120 ms ) .
When will Lebanese companies learn some professionalism and send us an email when they want to do a server maintenance so we know about the issue and not make a fuss about it.

still 350 here..
TerraNet seem to be having the same slowdown issue as some of the other ISPs, it's been 3 weeks now i called them lastnight and they said they're working on a fix.
I will add my post to confirm, I also had a latency raise yesterday or the day before, after long months of low latency. So let us see what they are up to with this maintenance, or if it's just the same normal Sodetel thing. We got used to it anyway.
