I use Xubuntu 12.04 LTS. What do you think ?
NuclearVision
I have ubuntu 12.04 on my netbook, it does not seem to have ping and speeds problem but maybe some software connect/disconnect issues when electricity goes.
Try updating the driver from update center, and check if there's serious updates.
Hope this helps.

I update my system regularly, I also made sure if ever there was an update to the driver, no, not even in the Broadcom website.
I booted into Backtrack, which installs its own drivers to the hardware, not the usual closed-source one, it works like charm. So is this a driver problem ? If yes, what about installing the same driver that comes with BT5 ?
And by the way if your problem is that the computer doesn't connect after the electricity goes, that the icon keeps spinning ( connecting ... ) and keeps failing, I suggest you to replace it with Wicd Network Manager.

Why don't we all just change subscribers. I am seriously considering ogero. at the village is it never ever ever ever higher than 100 ms. and I can buy a 1 mbps package with 10 GB quota which is 8$ cheaper a month
Adnan
user, I totally agree with you, but waiting two to three months to get it is painful. Add to it that Sodetel has, well, nearly has a 2mbps plan + 10GB which is quite fine ... If that really was it.
NuclearVision
Technically I'm not sure you can extract the driver from BT and install it on XUBUNTU.
Isay that it is a software issue, formerly a bug. You can report it.

Actually 1 mbps with the 10GB quota is better for me than the 2 mbps. cause it saves me 8$, I don't need the unlimited download much anymore(they used to cut my speed in half whenever I start using it anyway so that was useless) and my quota burns more quickly (sometimes while watching a youtube I decide a min later I don't want to continue, 2 mbps already loaded it all ;P)
My ping is currently 600 ms, it also happened all afternoon yesterday and I thought it was a minor problem, it seems that is the new standard now

Noticed today that certain websites are not working, including Apple website and Guild Wars 2 website and others. Anyone is suffering from similar thing?
user
I don't use those sites so no idea, I did notice that the ping is getting worse

The past 4 days or so sodetel has been dividing my bandwidth, first 2 mbit 4 days ago, then back to 4 mbit again, today I came home to log on to 1 mbit with 109 kbit upload which is terrible: Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 109 / 1.182 soo what sort of joke is this due to this my ping has gone up +100ms, it's not fun to play on 230ms when you're used to 100 - 130. Anyone else getting bandwidth divided? what's the big deal? they need more corporate bandwidth so they power us down to 25% bandwidth since we're on fiber?
romel
haha you should be thankfull your ping is not in the 500s like most of the regular sodetel users ,unless your on the gaming package..

THIS IS THE 2MBS/Package its been like this for weeks they tell me that its because its peek time lolol...

Hello Romel and welcome to the club :
Over WIFI :
Via Ethernet cable :
I have the same package as you, and it's often below the proposed 2mbps.
GeorgeN
Yeah i'm on the gaming package, and giving me 20% of the advertised speed is unacceptable tbh, been happening for a while now if they can't handle the consumption don't go ahead with the advertising. I don't mind the low download speed too much but 109kbits of upload is unacceptable, that's as bad as the cable guy 7 years ago. In addition to that I have frequent disconnections, around 5 times an hour, and every reconnect it gives me a random speed, 128 / 1,118, 109 / 930... 128/ 1358, etc etc. Looks like they've automatically assigned it to give a fourth of the bandwidth according to availability of bandwidth.

Man, look at your modem line attenuation, it seems that half of the problem is on your side.
GeorgeN
Yeah maybe but i've had it for a very long time and it only started happening 5 days ago, what do you think?
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 19,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 24,5 / 37,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 8,0 / 10,0
hmmm.
Aly
Your SNR doesn't seem fine, perhaps this issue is related to your home wiring, maybe a broken filter or the splitter is bad, you can check that by unplugging all your phones and try to plug the modem alone without any filter or splitter or any other phone plugged to the wall and see if the SNR changes, if it doesn't it can be fixed by the central they can plug you on another port on the DSLAM, worst case is that the phone lines underground are too old or damaged.
SNR:
* 6bB. or below = Bad and will experience no line synchronisation and frequent disconnections
* 7dB-10dB. = Fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions.
* 11dB-20dB. = Good with little or no disconnection problems
* 20dB-28dB. = Excellent
* 29dB. or above = Outstanding
Line Attenuation:
* 20bB. and below = Outstanding
* 20dB-30dB. = Excellent
* 30dB-40dB. = Very Good
* 40dB-50dB. = Good
* 50dB-60dB. = Poor and may experience connectivity issues

Noticed tonight that pings are skyrocketting again and speed has dropped from supposed 4 to 2mbps. I tested it at 6am, so it's basically not rush hour.

Hello , I'm a Sodetel Dsl User , i have a 2Mbit up to 4 Mbits speed , 15 GB limit , it's all working well , i'm just not getting my speed i'm paying for , just getting 1 Mbit same as i was subscribed to before i upgraded to the new speed ! i'm thru DSP Ogero Central Khaldeh , i always call them and call Sodetel they tell me that the central isn't upgraded yet ! That's some informations about my Dsl from my ZTE Dsl Router : Link Status Connected
Rate (Up/Down) 255/1022 kbps
Noise Margin (Up/Down) 27.4/8.8 dB
Modulation Type ADSL_2plus
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) 60/41.6 dB
Output Power (Up/Down) 17.6/12.1 dBm
Data Path (Up/Down)
Max Rate(Up/Down) 1025/2660 kbps
and That's a speedtest :

Any Help ? Thank u .

Since the line rate is limited to 1022 kbps and you cant get more than that unless your central does the upgrade, just downgrade your connection with sodetel to the 1 Mbps package and stop paying for 4 mbps, you are currently wasting your money.
