redbyte wroteblue_bear wroteI have 2MB DSL from Sodetel, each day my latency is 350 to 500ms which is unplayable... sometimes I get a sweet 90 to 120ms but when the router is switched off because of the stupid electricity I go back to the high latency...
I'll give restarting the router trick a go now, hope it works
PS: @1PM today I had 90ms, when electricity switched off/on @2PM my ping was back to 450ms x_x
I would suggest you get a UPS for your router. Firstly to enjoy the good ping for longer and secondly your router could burn if you are switched to a generator when the electricity goes. I learned that the hard way :)
It's not a router, it's TPLink wireless Adsl device

After electricity being off/on I'm still connected to that fiber IP & my latency is stable at 100-110 ms :D

I'm back on the 350 ms it seems.
Anyway, does anyone have an idea on the current status of the fiber optics project? and the EUROPA submarine cable project as well? Or is there any specific thread that discusses these projects?
You know out of the 100 ms that we celebrate when we get, around 80 ms are wasted in our crappy infrastructure. only 20 or 30 ms are 'consumed' so to speak in the IMEWE and the euro cables. A friend of mine in Jordan got ping replies from london that are rather low, around 27-39 ms per request.

Today i'm on 370ms as well and the usual method isn't working

Yeah, all I can tell you is that so far nothing has changed and it does not look like it is going to change anytime soon.

I'm still on the 97 ms, it's been like 5 hours... I was playing my mmorpg :P it's a totally different experience when you're not lagging and your character immediately reacts to the mouse click

Could you log into your router page and check what IP you have ?

Indeed :D

and it is almost midnight and t is still 97 ms...
it can't be just an accident... lets hope it stays that way though and lets hope it is a sign of something good for the future :P
it usualy used to be 500 ms after 8 pm but so far it is holding, no requests timed out either(I used to get those)
blue_bear
I lagged just now a bit for like 2-3 mins latency went up suddenly to 800 ms, now I have around 230ms...which is better than 500+ :D
Again: it went back for 100-130ms but I'm lagging sometimes for a sec
user
I'd be happy with 200... but 350 and above it not good
I wish they can make it stable for everyone. selling latency is shit. it's our right...
that's like the electric company selling you the 50 hz :P
edit: next day, 7 am, still 99 ms ping :P

Lucky, I stopped getting 100ms pings two days ago.
user
Well today is cleaning day and had to turn off the router :/
edit: ok so I turn the router on and the ping is 400 ms
I do one restart and it is back to 97 ms :P
coincidence?
user
please keep this thread alive :P if possible I want a daily report hehehe
my ping is 100 ms today as well, with little parts of the day being 370. I am having no problems at all reaching 100
I'm afraid of getting my hopes up and it getting worse again... I'm also curious what happened with the fiber optics plans linking all of lebanon, last year they said it will be almost done in november of this year...

Can't agree more, but now I'm PVPing in WOW and my lag is high.......
user
it's never good to play at night :P
my ping remained 100 ms but I got request timed out frequently which caused horrible lag spikes too
user
it's always 100 ms now! all the time, regardless of restarts...
anyone else has the same?
blue_bear
I'm having sometimes the same stable connection after restart but sometimes it's getting back to 400ms so I need to restart the router again, hope sodetel won't see this post :P
AVOlio
I never reach 100 ms like you guys talk about a lot in this last few posts.
The lowest that i had so far is like 190ms,
I am subscribed to the 2MB package,
And its not stable also, if dont do the Connect/DC method, i always get a ping of 450 ms minimum,
But i DC/Connect it a few times to get the low ping..
