Well it does have a better latency, so it might help high speed pci-e based ssds, not that they are cheap :P.
Whats good about the platform as a whole, z68 and x79, is that it supports future cpus. Intel is doing it like amd this time. Same socket faster cpu and tech.
So why get a standard motherboard, and pay $$$. And when you upgrade to Ivy bridge and a pci-e 3.0 gpu, you find out your motherboard only supports 2.0!
So its more futureproof.
