This might be a long post, but I will try to explain the best I can and I am seeking for help, I have a HTC Desire (Bought brand new from Microage 1 Year ago) I had it for this period and I loved it, the best phone ever, I have been reading about Rooting and flashing custom ROMs into your device for a couple of days and noticed that I was missing alot of cool stuff, I kept my Desire in stock condition (Updated to Froyo 2.2) and didnt benefit from all of this.
After alot of researches in the past days, I decided to go for the
InsertCoin 1.1.4 ROM, now there is tons of tutorials online, and alot of methods to Root/Flash .... It became so confusing and I was so eager to install this ROM so I made some kind of mistake and followed several tutorials at once and finally installed InsertCoin ROM, the final result is impressive this thing is awesome but now I have a BIG lack of internal memory :S so I am asking you guys to help me, I will tell you what I have done and please correct what you see is Wrong:
1- I Rooted my phone using the unrevoked method
http://unrevoked.com/
(I followed a tutorial it was easy and simple, everything went as described, I can say I rooted my phone successfully after the rooting finished I got a new program called superuser added to my inventory)
2- Next I read that I must partition my SD card, to a Primary FAT32 partition + 1GB EXT2/3/4 partition
(This is a requirement for InsertCoin, so I followed the first tutorial that involved ADB SHELL to partition my Card, however it failed to convert the EXT2 partition to EXT3 and of course couldnt make it EXT4, so I followed another tutorial where I had to download Gparted (100 MB Debian based Linux) and boot it, use it to partition my SD card, this one was successful, I did partition my 4 GB SD card this way:
2.86 GB FAT32 PRIMARY
1 GB EXT4 PRIMARY (Even though some Tutorials say it must me LOGICAL)
What do you think so far ? anything wrong ?
3- Now I read that in order to load custom ROM into your phone you must also Flash your HBOOT,
therefore I went to http://alpharev.nl/ (According to some tutorial) downloaded the Bravo CM7 r2, the zip file, renamed it to PB99IMG.zip put it on my SD card, rebooted into recovery mode (ClockWork) and chose to "install zip from sd card" and guided it to the PB99IMG.zip rebooted successfully. Any mistake here ?
Later on I read another tutorial that asked to download the ISO utility from alpharev.nl and flash your phone with it and at the same time S-OFF it, I tried it it failed in the end my phone is still S-ON.
4- Finally after I thought that I have met the "requirements" I followed the tutorial from the InsertCoin
official website,
I wiped data, factory reset, wiped the cache, wiped the David Calvik (Something like that) cache, I installed the new Custom ROM and booted successfully.
Now I can say I reached 80% of my goal, right now in my hands I have a working phone (Thanks God I didnt Brick it) with a cool Android 2.3.3 with some new cool features, however the downside is I only have
32 MB left of internal memory and I did not install any single application yet :S I thought that the 1 GB EXT4 was dedicated to the new ROM and applications as I saw:
(This Pic is from the Supernova ROM and not the InsertCoin but I read that InsertCoin does the same).
So bottom line, right now I have a working phone, with InsertCoin ROM, LOW internal memory and S-ON (I am not sure if this MUST be OFF) which I want to fix, I can reinstall the ROM if you suggest so (Even though I did it twice), I can switch to another ROM if you suggest a better one (Nice looking one too :P), I can provide any info you want, the below is what I get at the recovery screen:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
