1) What is the effect of changing the dsl type to adsl2 , adsl2+ , adsl1
after some testing i found out that forcing the modem to make the connection type 2+, it stops getting any connection.
If i select adsl2 it will be set automatically to T1.413 (which has a down and upload stream lower then adsl1); adsl1 is automatically configured when your a dsl customer.

Its funny that our connection isn't near to t1.413 yet, which has been approved in 1998 --
it doesn't work here :* 256 unlimited day and night sodetel
Mine says ADSL2+M. Why is yours ADSL2 only?
Where would one find this on a Dlink 2640U modem?
it doesn't rly matter cuz our speeds are not even one of the standards :P
guys this is the modulcation type... I always advice to pick g.dmt as modulation when configuring your ADSL router if your plan is 512kbps and below.

Select ADSL2+ modulation if you are on a 1mbps...

Who is your ISP?

"Although the standard development is completed and verified by the ITU, some scrupulous owners of local loop networks don't allow this standard to be used because the high power can create audible cross-talk."

This means this ISP can create problems for others.

Kareem, i check, in matter of sensitivity ADSL2+ better even on lower speeds and bad links.

wont work i think
Well to be honest, when I first got my 512 kbps Ogero DSL connection, it was set to ADSL2 /ADSL2+ modulation and I used to get 508/125kbps sync speed and high attenuation; I tried all type of modulation and found that G.dmt was the best as it was the only one that gave me a 512/256kbps sync speed and lower attenuation with maximum attainable download rate.

When I switched to the 1mbps plan, I couldnt connect with the G.dmt modulation, only ADSL2+/ Annex .. and still I cannot sync at full speed.

I am not sure about the new plans.

I have tried the G.dmt on several friends routers and it returned positive values in all attempts.

Still I am not if it applies to all.

I think under Status tab->Statistics.
Mine is
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A

And what does that mean in Lebanon? Does the different versions offer any benefits among each other in a country like ours?
