ADSL Modem Configuration

I bought a new ADSL modem to replace my Thompson. I also acquired my PPPoE username/password from Ogero and would like to configure the modem. I haven't got to it yet but I'm wondering if there's anything aside from setting the username and password that should be done.

you just open
192.168.1.1
login as admin
admin
after you're in open the setup wizard then just put your username and password and don't forget to put "@ogero.gov.lb"

and that's about it
there isn't anything else to do

BUT
if you got a router and you're going to set it up to an ADSL modem then you need to configure a dynamic ip and change the ip address of the router to 192,168.5.1 and set the dinamic ip to 192.168.1.254

make sure your connection type is set to PPPoE and if you are asked for VPI/VCI parameter set it to 8.35

^ not necessary, some people have 8.35 and others have 0.35. I have the later.
Also if you are connecting your modem to a router, the modem should be in Bridge mode, that's the case with Thompson, I don't know if other manufactures configure this feature automatically.

I tried doing everything here but not working. The "ogero.gov.lb" i put it where ?In the pppoe username instead of the @ogeronet-256.com?

that's the PPPoE user name it consists of the code + @ogeronet-[speed].com
for example if you have a256kbps plan from ogero your PPPoE user id is : L123456@ogeronet-256.com

I have a 512k connection why is it 256?
Ogero are just cheating on he speeds cause now i got a 256k connection and my ping and everything online didn't change.

My problem is that its only the 9th of the month and my quota has already exceeded 4 GB which has never happened before to me (usually it never exceeds the whole month). so I went to my 192.168.0.1 to change the password and the username, it didn't work which meant I had to reset the factory settings of the router.

I called ogero to ask for my ppoe username / pass the guy told me there is 2 passwords for my L..... username , one to connect remotely to my modem which he gave me and one he said he can't give me it and I have to send it to the company to program it. ( I believe it's the one you are talking about that has to be sent as an e-mail).

I tried doing as u suggested above, I put dynamic ip and entered the ppoe user/pass and it didn't work.

Please help, pple draining my netz :S

remove your d link

get a network cable and attach your laptop/desktop to the zhone modem

access the modem - it should ask for a user/pass for the modem, if you have them then put them in like so

scavenge around, and get to the place where you can change your encryption and your key - change it to WPA2 and put a pass like: Tryt0Cr@ckTI-Is i.e. something complex with symblos, numbers and everything

save the changes and reset

i don't know the default user name and pass for the zhones, but try user/user, user/nothing, etc

Or google it - there are databases for the default user/passwords for them .

Thanks for your reply but I didn't touch the Zhone's configuration(which were set by ogero) I just reseted the router to factory settings.

I can't seem to configure the router to work although if the zhone is connected directly to the pc it works.

BTW, I sent ogero an email regarding the user/pass they sent me the same pass that was given to me on the phone.
