  • CoD Black Ops NAT type 2

Hey guys, Im glad I'm back on lebgeeks.

So after waiting two months! I finally recieved my 512kb/s connection from terranet (ethernet)
So after setting it up, I had a couple of problems but all were resolved, I hooked it up to my ps3 and inserted black ops UNTIL ....

I was in the matchmaking screen, and I had found my nat type strict, although my NAT type was TYPE 2 ...?
Alright thats for starters, second of all with my 512kb/s connection Im getting 2 bars max?

What the hell, OGERO users are getting 3 bars with the same speed!
I was even reaching a point where I'd go from 1 bar to 2 bars...
Whats funny is, terranet wont accept to give you a fixed IP unless your subscribed to there 1MB plan.

Guys Im no genious ill admit, and maybe my knowledge with IP's or all this port fowarding stuff isn't to great but If someone can take me step by step to getting a better connection on black ops I'd really appreciate it.

If someone can write back showing me what to do or how I can get 3 bars and make my NAT type open I'd really appreciate it.

If my NAT type is 2 , but strict does it matter on the bars of connection I'm getting?

Ogero here, NAT type 2 PS3, With all forwarded ports correctly on top of that, Wired connection, with 3 bars and still NAT strict

Only when i do the "mw2 disc swap" trick do i get open NAT

Load up mw2 (if you have it) get to the same screen as BO i.e. where it shows your NAT type, then eject your disc, then insert blackops and voila you should have open NAT

You can thank Treyarch for their sucky attempt of porting that game to the PS3.

Google this problem; its a worldwide issue, the game is just highly selective of modems/routers.

No not at all. All my friends with IDM/Terra only can get at best 2 bars

What does matter is the region of your PSN account, make an account and set region to UK and you can (or may get) 3 bars .. my main US account can only get 2

I have already explained this in a seperate thread here, but the generic explanation to this is that BO matchmaking happens according to PSN region of your account, not like MW2 which works the proper way that being who you can connect to with the lowest best ping .. it's just like that.

In summary to "fix" your problems :

1. Try making a new PSN with region set to UK
2. Mw2 Trick (although having a closed NAT will only affect you if you try making party, nothing else)\

Other than that there isn't really much you can do at all; to the best of my knowledge that is.

Yeah that is Lebanon for you heh, fortunatlly for me I have terranet here in the mountains, but Im awaiting my phone line in beirut, maybe I should switch to Ogero if Im not satisfied.

Alright MMA , good news and bad news.

Good news : I finally got that 3 bar connection when I made a UK account and set the search settings to locale only!

Bad news : While in my second match I got disconnected, saying My PSN logged out when it wasnt and now when ever I go to multiplayer mode .. I get stuck in that " Downloading game settings " screen and then boom I get the banner which displays that I should go to callofduty.com/blackops/status etc ... Ive tried turning my system on and off but nothing :/

Im so lost, what should I do?

EDIT : All is good, I reset my router and all went well.

odd, very odd - there was no point to set to locale only, a wild guess is that that caused it, anyway this is a very weird problem

try restting your modem, if all else fails delete your game data and redownload the game patch

other that im completely clueless to this problem.
