Job opportunity: programmers needed!

Hello people!

Well, as I explained in my intro http://www.lebgeeks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=10046, I'm part of a startup project and I'm looking to expand my team.

So if any programmer out there is looking for a job as an intern, or if you need a part-time or full-time job, we have an opening for you!

Do words like AI, Hadoop, real-time analytics, Linux, C++, Slashdot, open-source, [etc] give you a tingling feeling? Would you like to work on interesting and varied projects?

We're looking for young, energetic and creative people who are interested in developing new technologies from scratch.

I won't be discussing salaries here as it is on a per-contract basis. Basically: interns get transportation fees while part-time and full-time employees would be getting a merit-based salary.

If you need to ask any more questions, feel free to ask! I'll be launching a WordPress blog soon and will let you know about it as soon as it's done!

I'm basically interested in a part-time job, and here are some of my concerns:

- Where's your office located?
- I guess part-timers work on average 4 hours per day? Does this apply for you?
- I want a detailed description of the job.
- How much are you willing to fix the min-max salary boundaries per month? Please give us pointers and estimates
- I currently have a full time job (8 to 4), so as a part timer I'll be available in the afternoon-night
- Building technologies from scratch. Can you elaborate more on that or give some examples?

Ok, so I got to apologize for not having replied earlier, but here are the answers:

We're located in Sin el Fil, next to Le Mall/Habtoor. Internship salaries start around $300 (transport basically), while part-timers/freelancers would be paid per project at a minimum of $300, more depending on the complexity of the project. Full-time employees' salaries depends on qualifications and the position assumed.

For those of you who already have a job, you can have a part-time/freelance position with us, and we may look into full-time employment depending on your track record with us.

A brief job description (a more detailed one will be available soon):
• Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject
matter, and symbolic logic;
• Consult with managerial and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems and suggest changes;
• Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software as a systems programmer;
• Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users;

And finally, building technologies from scratch...well, I might have over-stated what I was thinking. What I meant was that whatever we can build ourselves, we'll do it instead of relying on others. But we are also open to and even encourage new ideas which may later be developed.

On a similar note, guys, startups rarely have "job descriptions" and that's not only expected but encouraged.

On a totally different note, MichelG, you're underpaying part-timers. Though i don't wish to hijack your thread, so perhaps we can discuss this in a different topic.

@xterm: thank you for supporting startup mentality.

But I don't completely agree with you on the fact that we would be underpaying part-timers due to the fact that it is only a minimum amount we would be giving for very small projects. Bigger projects would lead to a higher salary.
And as a startup with limited funds, I don't think this is something we can really avoid anyways.

That's probably true. But I think it would be better to encourage employees to stay with you on the long run by giving some equity.

You're absolutely right on this point. I wouldn't mind giving out equity to employees at all, but it comes down to having a certain level of trust with the people you work with. It's a powerful incentive, and I don't think a lot of companies do it here in Lebanon, although it's a very common practice in other parts of the world, especially Silicon Valley.

hm, Samer is right about his point, and for the matter of trust it's just a matter of time Michel, I wish you a good luck, for me I have my University which takes about 80% of my time daily, so I'm gonna try and make a room, if it works I will let you know and join.
