  • Steve Jobs Resigns From Apple

Steve Jobs, you have defined a generation and changed the world. Thanks Steve from one of your biggest fanboys. Really it's unbelievable !

The CEO of Apple inc. has just resigned from his position as a CEO, and Tim Cook will take his place :)
The iPhone and the iPad , and the macs gonna miss Steve Jobs

I was really shocked.

Just take a look at his words, here's his resignation letter: http://www.macrumors.com/2011/08/24/steve-jobs-resigns-as-apple-ceo/

And here's apple PR Statment: http://news.cnet.com/8301-27076_3-20096895-248/steve-jobs-steps-down-from-apple/?tag=TOCcarouselMain.0

What are your comments? What's the future of Apple?
Apple is not the same since Tim Cook took over when jobs took his first medical leave back in 2009, Cook is making Apple go against what they once stood for back in the 80s. apple wont be the same without jobs!
Wouldnt you say apple of the 80's almost lead to its extinction? Apple didnt really stand for anything that made them better in the 80's. In fact, its what they started in the 80's that almost lead to their extinction.

And on the contrary, apple's been doing amazing since Steve took his first leave, and now holds the title of most valuable company...

Not much, if anything is going to change now. Sure theres a bit less trust in the stock and nervous investors want to pull their money, but once the iphone 5 is released everything will be back on track. It will be like nothing ever happened.

+ Steve's invisible magic hand will still be there to direct all the major stuff.
Haidar I think apple won't be the same without Steve because Tim cook don't have the powers and the passion of jobs :) and lol the 80s things were those thing that made apple bankrupt in that time
100% ryan he will be the chairman of the board he was though the chairman of the board ( many people don't know this ) so he will be working from under the table
But to be fair I think tim cook misses something steves have : the love of people
When you think about apple
You think about Steve
Lol he is the father of this great company ;) while tim cook only spent 13 years there :P
He meant "I reign as CEO of Apple" auto-correct strikes again! Stupid iPhone!
You guys always forget about the great Steve Wozniac the one who made Apple great in the first place, and the guy who resigned in order to remain an engineer and not get involved in the administration of the company , he co-founded apple, built the first home PC from SCRATCH! He is the one that we should be praising not the dude whoo took all the credit and pretended that Woz never existed !
I cant deny woz's favor for Apple but woz didn't co-founded apple alone he was Jobs' partner
Apple wasnt build only by woz's work :) woz resigned from apple and sold his shares.
Apple was dying until Jobs saved it with the idea of the iPod
the ipod was the life shore for Apple
Then steve jobs was the one who made apple stand still
so you cant say apple is all about woz
Apple is about jobs and there no one in this world can deny this ;)
I don't deny it , but people just seem to put woz in the shadows and ignore him :P when he was the true geek XD
The Apple I, also known as the Apple-1, is a personal computer released by Apple in 1976. They were designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak.[1][2] Wozniak's friend Steve Jobs had the idea of selling the computer. The Apple I was Apple's first product. It was demonstrated in April 1976 at the Homebrew Computer Club in Palo Alto, California.

And he DID co-found apple!!
Stephen Gary "Woz" Wozniak (born August 11, 1950) is an American computer engineer and programmer who founded Apple Computer, Co. (now Apple Inc.) with co-founders, Steve Jobs, and Ronald Wayne. His inventions and machines are credited with contributing significantly to the personal computer revolution of the 1970s. Wozniak created the Apple I and Apple II computers in the mid-1970s.[1]
And the idea of a portable Music player(Ipod) originated from a Lebanese who Apple hired to build and produce the famous iPod.

He might have been a smart business man but he invented NOTHING, he hired people to do the dirty work for him :), but anyways i agree with the fact that apple wont be the same without him.
HackerPro wroteI was really shocked.
No surprise there, this has been expected for a while given his repeated medical leaves.
haidcar wroteCook is making Apple go against what they once stood for back in the 80s
So far, all what Cook has done was continue working on the vision that Jobs laid out. I am interested to see what you are referring to when you claim that he is making apple go against what they stood for in the 80's.
the 80s things were those thing that made apple bankrupt in that time
I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say 1980's. In Apple history, the 1980's are divided into two distinct periods: 1981-1985 and 1986–1993 (which spans over the 90s). For more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Inc.#1981.E2.80.931985:_Lisa_and_Macintosh
He is the one that we should be praising not the dude whoo took all the credit and pretended that Woz never existed !
I think you're missing the point. The two things are not mutually exclusive. Sure, Wozniak is one of the most brilliant American engineers in the 80's, but that doesn't mean that Steve Jobs hasn't done an incredible Job at revolutionizing the whole industry with products like the iPhone, iPad and the Macbook Air.

To get more insight into the life and work of Steve Wozniak, I highly recommend you to read iWoz, a book that every engineer should consume.
lorcan32 wroteHe might have been a smart business man but he invented NOTHING
You need to verify things before presenting them as facts. I think we'll be doing much better as a community if we apply some critical thinking before posting. Steve Jobs has over 300 patents in his name, I think that qualifies him as an inventor: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/08/24/technology/steve-jobs-patents.html
I have read iWoz and Steve despised Woz moving on to that universal remote company and conned him several times :)
@ Samer how many patents did he actually come up with ?
I apologize for my mistake :)
Poor investors, they will lose lots of money. Their stocks lost a lot immediately.
the case is not who made the success,it's if apple is going to maintain this success, apple comeback in the 90's wasn't a one man show from steve jobs, you should not deny people behind real success like developpers of ios, designers of ipod and so on,it's more like a team job carried by a strong leader which is steve jobs, and apple should continue the same with the new leader, one thing am sure about is that am going to miss steve jobs when i will watch the iphone 5 event.
Mohammad if you read jobs resignation you can deduce that he believes in the powers of every man in apple and he believes apple will continue to be one of the best companies in the world
"I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role"
You think iOS developers were behind the come back in the 90s , iOS developers started their development in 2008 when the AppStore was introduced .
Ok and if jobs weren't the leader of apple , do you think they would do what they did ?
I know Jonathan Ive was the designer of the iPod :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Ive

But without the trick of jobs apple couldn't be what it is now :

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/aug/25/steve-jobs-what-next-apple

"As CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs was like a French chef: he strove to create great products and had great dramatic flair for presentation. On the product side, he was a pioneer in embracing the techniques of top-class industrial design for the company's hardware and usability for its software."

Every person who is immersed in apple's history knows the favors of jobs

The techniques jobs used helped a lot in the come back of apple not iOS developers :P

In addition if you took a look at the first link , you must have seen this :

"Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world's most innovative and valuable technology company. Steve has made countless contributions to Apple's success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple's immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration."
Jobs was the one who inspired his employees
Jobs will not leave apple you and won't miss him in the event he will be in the front line . ;)
@HackerPro you know me more than anyone here, but you didn't understand what i meant in my post, you were discussing wether it's Steve or Wuz behind the success,so i said apple made the success of apple, ios developers and ipod designers were just an exemple, but can you deny their role ? i know that steve jobs brought apple back to life,i am not an apple fan but i can't deny the success of apple and the big role of steve jobs,in fact i respect steve jobs a lot,but i believe in team work,i really hate it when people give all the credits to one man, like in Microsoft everyone know Bill Gates but less and less people know Paul Allen,i mean you can't deny bill gates huge roll in microsoft but you can't forgot others people working behind him.

"[Steve Jobs] didn't just start Apple," Wozniak said. "He started the music company, iTunes. He started the music iTunes store. He started the retail stores. He has been behind the iPhone. That is the device of our lifetime. He's done Apple computer many times over."

So woz is admiting it he didnt just start apple ;) he was behind the iphone and itunes too;)
Mohammad when it comes to technology there will be one person in the fornt and the others will be the unknown soldiers that are working, sure we cant deny the efforts of them but still steve jobs as the head of apple he gets all the fame , apple brand have always been acompanied with steves name
Tim Cook is not famous , you know my addiction to apple, and th first time i knew tim cook was in the verizon event ... No one can deny the efforts of the apple staff, but steve get the biggest portion of respect and fame and his is in the fornt line ;)
