They will make us wait min a week to fix the damn issue. I lovevthis country
zaks wroteI was just wondering will the internet in Bshamoun get upgraded? We are still on 128kbps, so are all my neighours.
Don't expect anything before Q1 2013

Me and Sehnaoui (or at least whoever controls his twitter) have been discussing this on twitter

That was his official word - he also said it would be a much faster process if the cabinet wasn't involved and with Youssef out of the picture

He more or less has plans for all effected areas and wishes to fix it.

Im inclined to believe that. He said this in specific:
It will be long since no solution but active cabinet and it is what we are working on. But it will take from 6 month to 1 year.
Without Abdel Menhem Youssef i could make it happen much faster.
i can't link the actual tweets since they were sent via Direct Message (yes he actually follows you back as well !)

I personally have 256 and i know people with wasta that were able to "upgrade" to 512 (they experience disconnections though sometimes)

Which area in bchamoun are you ?

No they will just "tansho" like they did with the electricity - problem here is there is no interent "ishtiraak" - NOOOOOOOO.

Internet connectivity was lost due to an upgrade in the IMEWE cable which Ogero did not notify anyone about
Ogero's behavior caused private companies and citizens financial damage and loss of service
We ask the Niyebe Aamee to consider this as an official "ekhbar"
By Denys from "Flip the switch group".

هيدا يلي كان بعد ناقص
That was the other day; today god knows what the problem is - perhaps the same issue i believe still we can't rule it out.

EDIT:http://www.lbcgroup.tv/news/39560/lbcinews

That was posted at like 9:30pm ... somehow :P (my internet was down from 8 till 10:30)
^^ Ah yes sorry, that was the reason of Monday's outage.
I really, honestly feel for you guys struggling down there.

This fucking blows, I hope the problem is sorted.

I somehow, secretely, miss all this a little bit when I have to go and ping a server, when I have to wait for electricity to go out...
And here comes the official word:

There has been an underwater cable cut on IMEWE between Egypt and France.

We are doing our best to complete this successfully by end of day tomorrow.

While this significantly reduces our downlink capacity, our uplink capacity is in a better shape due to the asymmetry of the traffic.

As a result, Lebanon is now operating on 3 Gbps available capacity instead of 23 Gbps.

Copy-pasted from Sehnaoui's twitter.

As a side note 3G has been dead since around 6pm for me - still is.

EDIT:

Just tweeted

Nicolas Sehnaoui @NicolaSehnaoui
We r working with CYTA to get emergency capacity allocation through Cyprus and reroute our traffic accordingly.

I take it you live abroad?

the only reason I am still here is because I am unable to go abroad. I would take my first chance

sodetel internet has been down since like 7 pm until the moment when I am posting this. no internet no news no nothing

electricity has been out for... a month?:P

I'm missing the days of slow internet, at least we had internet, at least I knew when I opened my browser and typed something, a page would display. now it's all random
from reading the previous posts, am I to understand that ogero never went offline?

cause I had to suffer for 5 hours. and now I have a 500 ms ping every 9 time outs
@user: Ogero was online for the most part, but it was so slow that it was just unbearable to use / unusable

@mohammadk97: read the first post on this page ..

3G still dead.

I got an hour downtime between my last post and now.

I hope I get some internet till they finish repairs, at least enough for me to use google and get some programming work done

edit: here's what I don't get
private companies complain about ogero not selling them from the cable and thus them having to buy satellite

yet when the cable is cut they lose internet
I don't get it.
I have both Terranet and Ogero (the latter being a back up connection). Ogero went offline for about an hour or so but Terranet is still down. 3G has been almost all the time.
hey is it safe to resume my download now,i mean does packet loss affect the download?
my bro has 3 G it never went off

the IMEWE is not our only cable we have the old 3 Gb capacity cables from syria and cyprus etc... but it seems these 3 Gb were still in use despite the IMEWE cable instead of being reserved for emergency, and from what we can conclude is that ogero was still using them for its private clients and perhaps for 3G

that would explain why 3G and ogero users stayed ok while the rest were screwed. and now sodetel seems to be on their beloved satellite. the familiar 350-500 ms ping is back... with a lot of pressure on it
hey is it safe to resume my download now,i mean does packet loss affect the download?
if you are downloading with a download manager and with a site that supports resumes you are fine

but if you are downloading from rapidshare or something similar and as a free user, long enough timeouts will break your download and you'll have to restart again
i am downloading on the ps3 i can resume and pause,is it safe?another question, today the electricity cut off while downloading on the ps3 so they didn't type download failed it just said pending,so i just resumed and it resumed downloading, but my question is: did something go wrong with the download when the electricity cutt off,i mean if i finish the download, will the installation fail?
another question if i download using download manager like utorrent or by using the ps3,will modem turn offs harm the process or can i just easily continue the download?
