G.DMT is one of the ADSL modulations. Basically you have:
G.lite, with a speed of up to 1.5Mbps.
G.DMT with a speed of up to 8Mbps.
ADSL2 with a speed of up to 12Mbps.
ADSL2+ with a speed of up to 24Mbps.
Now the reason G.DMT can be more stable sometimes is because it uses shorter frequencies that ADSL2+, and is hence less prone to interference.
