No we are not. I doubt many people actually spend 1GB of upload bandwidth throughout the whole month. Personally, I don't.
My upload usage is always
at least a quarter of of my download usage. It's because the internet is used for many things other than watching youtube videos. In fact, we are screwed again, and if you don't believe me, let's look again at the facts...
"As of October 1st 2011, if you exceed the free granted monthly volume for each speed, you'll be charged 6000 L.L for each additional 1GB used, or a fraction of 1GB.
This extra charge will be based on the total of the download excess and upload excess if any.
For example, if you have a 4GB free volume usage and your upload usage is 4.5GB and your download usage is 3.1 GB, your total usage would be 7.6GB and you will be charged for 4GB extra usage."
So let's compare the old plan and the new plan. Let's consider the cap is 4GB, and your download usage is 4.1GB and your upload usage is 3GB. In the old plan, you would be charged for an extra 0.1 GB, so you would only pay
1500 L.L in excess. In the new plan, you will be charged for an extra 4 GB, so you will pay
24,000 L.L in excess, that's
16 times more than what you pay in the old plan. And it's not a coincidence that 80% of DSL users are very watchful and will only exceed their monthly bandwidth by a
fraction of a GB, which is where the new plan comes in handy in ripping people off(as any fraction of a GB is now considered a whole GB). And they also had the ignorant people out there believe that nobody ever uploads, when in reality upload is accompanying your download in most of what you do on the net(like playing online games or video chat for example). And what did the big bosses in the ministry and private companies say? They said that it's for our own good(funny whenever people are screwing you they tell you it's for your own good)... they argued that "under the old system, most users were wasting much of their upload cap.", no shit? really? Does that mean that if the old system remained then the new caps would be
half of what they are now? like 2GB cap for the 1mbps plan instead of 4GB? (since by their logic they are now putting the "wasted" cap to more efficient use)
So in conclusion, yes we are by all means screwed!
