Please let's keep politics out of this forum! I'm Christian and i feel that we're underggerating (opposite of exaggerating) and we're too late actually...

If Imad Kreydieh asked to not do something, but you do - expect he will not listen to your ideas next time. It is just basically impolite from your side. Or worse, i think if you tweet to politican on hype you got from this tests, they will make conclusion Imad Kreydieh making too much noise and troubles with his public statements, and they might consider better to remove him, and put some silent person.

I would like to remind previous Ogero director was living pretty well without listening or talking to anyone, his mistake was only to make scandal without any credible proof and making troubles for politicians of all ranks.
You got a chance now, you got person who listen to you, dont ruin it by stupid impatience.

Correct me if i'm mistaken but our president suspended "Majlis el nouweb" for a month so that means more than couple of weeks till we get the new speed

The Council of Ministers approves decrees which is what's needed by Ogero for the new DSL plans. Parliament approves laws and a law is not needed for Ogero's new plans. So keep an eye on when the Council of Ministers will meet and we'll see what happens.

@haidcar and nuclearcat, even though i understand what you mean, i believe that the principle of being complaisant to politicians because they're doing a good job is profoundly wrong.

Simply based on the fact that the definition of a good job varies from one person to another, for us geeks, it mainly means that they're improving systems that we use and rely upon, for someone else, it might just be "not leaving the chair to someone different while doing nothing constructive".

Using this way of thinking is what got us here in the first place, people being complaisant to our politicians because they perceived that they were doing a good job by doing nothing.

Don't get me wrong, i believe that Mr. Imad Kreidieh is doing a great job, but that doesn't give him the right to ask us to back off our PM while politicians from all boards have proven again and again that they don't do their work and don't work for us.

I believe that whatever small improvement was implemented in the recent years was due to the pressure of citizens on politicians, and not because politicians had any vision whatsoever.

allow me to give my opinion some of us geeks use the term of high speeds which is a marketing propaganda. We are not getting high speed.
ADSL2+ at it's best gives us 24 Mbps which is 3MB/s of download speed ( not going to even talk about upload speed)
that is in no way high speed internet at it's best 2 people can watch full hd movies at the same time ( let's say you and your brother ) and that will consume the entire bandwidth.
I don't want to sound negative but don't fall into the " high speed internet " trap all we are getting is ADSL2+ as it is meant to be which is still many years behind in technology.
There are many more ways to fix such problems and i don't mean fibber to home to everyone because that would take time but how about some private ISPs selling cable internet that can easily reach 20 MB/s. Right now the problem we have is limitation in choice and no competition.

my point is we still don't have many options what if someone doesn't have a phone line or has been waiting 1 year for the FTTC ...

Draguen, he said plainly - you will get him enemies there. And you consciously keep your line and just because you think you are right and you think will get your donut faster - intentionally hurting him. That's entirely wrong and selfish, period.
I wont go to long discussion, why exactly such approach will make situation much worse.

Silentcontrol, I believe at least opening valves on ADSL lines to max speed is "quick" improvement, long term improvement without political support will be extremely slow, but possible and they are doing that.

However i believe that we had a constructive exchange and i hope that i helped you see my point of view.

I didn't get the speed upgrade test today so I emailed cyberia and they said restart router and test now, so I did and here are my line stats and speed test

I think they didn't give me "open speed" since the router synced speed doesn't fluctuate its stuck at 7996 down and 766 up, but still my snr already reached 7 to 6.5 db so I think this is the best I can get, but doing speed tests I can only download at 6 mb/s not 8 mb/s and sometimes less, also the ping is fluctuating a lot, pinging lux.valve.net goes from 94 mb to 150 to 200 sometimes idk what's happening since I am the only one connected to the router and no download is going on.

Anybody knows where i can buy a vdsl2 modem in beirut? I checked almost all stores in saida and i didn't find one
