From my experience, anything above 6dB is stable. My line seems to struggle with CRC errors from time to time on my 6.7dB SNR, but I never get any disconnections.
Some times in the past my line attenuation used to get much higher (for some reason) and my DSL would keep dropping every time it tried to sync. The modem kept dropping the sync rate until it connected. Example:
>Modem tries to sync at 4096Kbps, fails.
>Modem tries to sync at 3900Kbps instead, fails.
>Modem tries to sync at 3600Kbps, etc ...
And the synced speed stays the same until the modem is restarted.
