I bet 90% of you know about the faster net coming really soon.
We're going to need original DVDs from now on, cause most of the cracked games ( especially the new ones, wont work online ).
So anyone know a place, anyplace that sell original games, anywhere, just post all places you know that sell original games.
Thanks.
Regards.

Virgin usually get the big hits like CoD and what not. Nothing else though. You can contact Shatilov on the forums, he can get you your games from outside.
Other than that, it's either waiting on Virigin or just buying games from steam
Usually what i do is i buy games from steam and a friend of a friend of mine works in wizaaarit el maaaliyeh he can download whatever he wants there at high speed, and then he just gives me the files :P

Thanks, but with the start of 2012, I'm sure there will be a lot of new markets, dedicated only for original DVDs, cause if I wanted to open a shop now, it will definitely be a DVDs shop.
But what speed is available at wizarit el maliyeh??? Will I be able to download from steam when the new speed are available ...
I'll appreciate if anyone knows more places or ways how can I get original Games.
The-MMMs
the guy says: it downloads within a night; so im guessing the actually download speed is around 1mb/s
Will you be able to download from steam ? Well when they finalize their decisions and we find out about the quota limits then we can only find out. In essence, it will be more reasonable to still buy the game (hardcopy) but im guessing with the new internet upgrade we can download some 1 game a month / then again that's all down to how much quota we are allocated to.
Maybe the market will boom with original games, i mean i REALLY hope so, but just to answer your question Virgin DO get original games for example this year alone i saw Mafia II, COD: Black Ops, and Kane and Lynch 2 all retail at their branches.
So im guessing high end games such as MW3, BF3 will also make the shelves this year .. cross your fingers ! - also the games are priced quite reasonably, i mean Black Ops was selling at the standard 59.99$ RRP price which is great.
Like i said, contact Shatilov (he's on this forums) he has means of importing whatever you wish from US/EU if im not mistaken.

Yeah, thanks. But i think I'll move to Sodetel after the speed is fixed, they always have unlimited plans. We'll see the new ones....
Padre
I ship them here. use Aramex :)
Nemesis-301
I still doubt we can download games from steam even with the new speeds, I mean if I wanted to download shogun 2 total war which is approximately 16 Gb and I had a 2mb internet, I could download approximately 720mb every hour so it would take me 22.2 hours of download... I hope virgin will get a more variety of games, I for ex want to buy the original of diablo 3 when it comes out...
Hamboza
I have a 512, The best way is to buy your game from Steam, the go get the cracked copy of the game from Nino or any place and copy it's files into it's steam directory, then you dont have to download it anymore, only the updates, i've been doing that since i was born. Some times I do even download games from Steam, at night my connection becomes double speed and I can easily handle 2gb at night so that works too.
ILIA_93
WTF, are you sure it will work Hamboza, cuz this will be great. But i don't think a cracked copy will work, can't it be detected by the steam server, and i'm sure that steam use serial key for verification ( product or game key ).
Flakk
Hamboza's trick works. I have done it many times, just dont copy the executables just the essential files. (they would be large in size) then steam downloads the missing files.
The-MMMs
yeah, the way Hamboza suggested does work . However with some games like cod4 it wont work for some reason; yet these exceptions are rare.
shant
you can do digital downloads of games that you buy,
there are games you can play online even if they are pirated though
Hamboza
I dont' know about COD4 not working cause I never tried it, but I've tried it with 50+ games and it always works. Also sometimes if a game gives you trouble or if Steam is being slow in getting it done you can try this: go to the games folder in the Steamapps/common/ directory then go to properties and uncheck the "read only" mark on the game's folder then apply it, this helps Steam deal with the game files faster, I even did this on the whole Steam folder itself which takes some time but I personally found better results.

I believe the problem was with punkbuster with cod4; nevertheless its all fine
thanks for sharing that, i'll try as soon as i get home !
Commander
Well that should work for most games except some games that use a different version for steam where even if you want to upgrade to a new patch you should re-download the whole game with the latest patch.

Thanks everyone, and thanks for the nice tip Hamboza .

Just couple of more questions:
-Anyone tried Direct2Drive? Does it work like steam or how?
-About the way you're using guy when downloading from steam, when you buy a game, you download the game itself or the installation files? So when I'm going to download a game, where I put the big data files? And if this made the game unoriginal and unplayable online. Can I download it again or it's gone?

-Never tried D2D sorry dont have any info
-When you buy a game from steam you download the game itself, not installation files, when the download is complete you will be ready to play, you dont have to wait for an installation.
If a game is too big leave the download (from steam) for one night for example, a chunk of files will be downloaded and you should get a clear picture on what to copy. Copy the pirated game files onto the folder where its downloaded and again leave steam to download overnight, steam will start recognizing files.
What i personally do is copy the big files and leave the exes alone and let steam download them.
You can delete game-files anytime you want and re-download as much as you want, game is yours forever.
For now if you buy a 3gb size game, i suppose you can wait like 3 days to download it and play it, because sometimes copying from pirated games to steam folder is a chore. I recommend using the trick on games larger than 5gb in size.
ILIA_93
I'm with ogero Flakk, the night is the same of the day, all cost quota. :(
I'll try to copy the large data files of the game only.
BTW, thanks a lot, really helpful. :-)

But what about Windows, I have a pirated copy, will this result problems concerning online gaming?
