DNS and URL Blocking

What are your experiences with parental control and DNS solutions ? Basically I'm trying to stop access to a certain URL on a home network ... I Tried the free solution from open DNS , it isn't flexible . I tried editing my hosts file , was a bit complicated and not as specific as I thought it would be . I tried configyring the parental control settings on my router , keeps giving me a log in page (eventhough) I"m logged in . I tried using the parental controls from Ogero and keep getting errors logging in although I'm logged in and I can view all my details . At the moment I'm experimenting with Google DNS .... Any suggestions . any tips ?

Re: DNS and URL Blocking

The hosts file should take care of most of your issues, especially if you use the wildcards correctly.  You can also try going into internet options/content/parental controls and try putting the banned url's in there (it won't work if you are doing this for an administrative account).  On a similar line, you can go into the internet options/security and put the urls in the restricted sites.
