How do you know about the fiber thing?
Here's cable traceroute via ping.eu

traceroute to 62.84.94.6 (62.84.94.6), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
1 *	*	*
2	hos-tr3.juniper2.rz13.hetzner.de	213.239.224.65	de	0.114 ms
hos-tr1.juniper1.rz13.hetzner.de	213.239.224.1	de	0.240 ms	0.408 ms
3	hos-bb2.juniper4.ffm.hetzner.de	213.239.240.150	de	5.825 ms	5.827 ms	5.812 ms
4	core-backbone-gw.level3.net	195.16.162.69	de	5.512 ms	5.509 ms	5.475 ms
5	vlan70.csw2.Frankfurt1.Level3.net	4.69.154.126	us	5.652 ms
vlan90.csw4.Frankfurt1.Level3.net	4.69.154.254	us	5.660 ms
vlan60.csw1.Frankfurt1.Level3.net	4.69.154.62	us	16.717 ms
6	ae-61-61.ebr1.Frankfurt1.Level3.net	4.69.140.1	us	5.635 ms	5.526 ms	7.213 ms
7	ae-1-15.bar2.Marseille1.Level3.net	4.69.143.245	us	21.835 ms	21.805 ms	21.794 ms
8	ae-0-11.bar1.Marseille1.Level3.net	4.69.143.241	us	21.567 ms	21.585 ms	21.581 ms
9 *	*	*
10 *	*	*
11	cachebox.lynx.net.lb	62.84.94.6	lb	61.166 ms	61.208 ms	61.130 ms

this traceroute was done to a public IP that is not for your box, it seems for a cache server, so you cannot get an exact answer.

I was satisfied with the adsl back home in Lebanon but I hope to see such connection in the near future with a reasonable price and unlimited quota.

Does your Cyberia internet Disconnect from time to time randomly, or just stop working for few minutes?

I doubt it's from the router. Im guessing either the modem is having problems or your phone line.

Hi, I've been facing very annoying slowdowns when browsing any HTTPS sites, I'm with terranet, anyone facing this issue too?

Same here. Not always though.
I'm not sure if this is related to IMEWE.

Delay is high on fiber, maybe we are facing a problem on IMEWE or CADMOS.

Re: Internet Speed and Latency in Lebanon

@nuclearcat: i agree with you when i see the high delay, but the traceroute results (Down & Up) show that my ISP routes my traffic via fiber, i'm with terranet.

I am facing the same problem the last 3-4 months,im using Terranet 4 Mbps. When we were first connected to IMEWE i use to have 65ms ping (using speedtest.net via European servers). Now i get 314-380 instead.

When i restart my router sometimes ping its fine and sometimes not (depends on the ip it gets from the Terranet  server)..

Re: Internet Speed and Latency in Lebanon

Question:
Does anyone in here know what kind of speed people are getting via DSL in remote towns of Mount Lebanon? i.e. Faraya, Hrajel, Mayrouba, Faytroun?
I know somebody whose router is still syncing at 128K. Isn't everyone supposed to be on 1Mbps? Anyone knows if speed is being concretely reached? Thanks

Guyz, has anyone notice the external IP from terranet ISP changed to UK today? OR is it just me?

I deeply checked in, nope im not using proxy nor anything related to that. From the router configuration info, the external IP is the same as an IP from London.

Simple check: speedtest.net (It used to show that im in Beirut)

Re: Internet Speed and Latency in Lebanon

I'm on the 2mbps plan, from Sodetel.
I apologise for not using Speedtest.net , but the plugin it requires always crashes, I don't know why, I use testmy.net instead.

TEST ONE ( 3:53PM ) :

Download : 220 Kbps
Upload :  138 kbps

Ping* to Sodetel.net.lb : 64.4 min and 306.3 max
Google.com: min/max = 379.749/613.857 ms
Bbc.co.uk 374.891/613.568 ms

*10 pings, 0% packet loss.

I hope this isn't normal.

TEST TWO ( 10:37PM ) :

Download : 202 kbps
Upload :  72 kbps

Pings are the same as TEST ONE.

Next time I will try by connecting the computer directly with an Ethernet cable, I don't have one meanwhile.

i can:
2191372512.png
low ping everytime, and stays low during unlimited nights (MAX 140ms if the connection is bad)
plus it is as stable as you can get, i'm not going to lie to you, sometimes it just crashes but it is for max 2-3 mins and happens like once/twice a week (no router reboot required)
i live in sodeco btw

@Draguen  What plan are you subscribed to ?!

And a pretty stupid question ..
Is it possible to be subscribed to 2 different DSL ISP's ?!   Like Sodetel and Ogero at the same time ?!

@AVOlio 1MB plan and yes it is possible IF you have two fixed lines, at least i think, but you should double check that info.
