i think that is a big mistake, an ssd will make a huge tangible difference to your daily pc use. Once you've used it you'd never consider living without one.
I don't know about Lebanon, but SSD prices have crashed the last 3 or 4 months everywhere, best time to grab bargains.

He's just going to use it for gaming and he tends to use the SSD for game storage. Which is a waste since it will only effect loading time.

@Ballad I dont need any keybord or mouse. I have wireless K/B mouse already.
Ok now guys, tell me your ideas about this one:

Few adjustments I would like to add.
Use the 2TB WD2002FAEX instead of the Seagate.
and use 2 or 4 sticks of ram to have Dual Channel (Get 2x8GB sticks or 4x4GB sticks).
Also, Gigabyte GV-N680OC-2GD 1.0 GeForce GTX 680 is 599+ VAT
You can also get a faster DVD RW like the LG GH24NS70-24X for only 3$ more.

Are you planning on gaming on a monitor with a resolution higher than 1080p? if not, then having 4 GB on your 680 is throwing money away, zero difference to a 2 GB version.

and i would suggest getting 1600 DDR3 memory, it should be barely more than the 1333 version, and is the sweet spot for performance/price.

Thank you for your suggestions,
But i will stick with the 4GB GTX 680 cause who knows perhaps later on i will get a screen more than 1080p.

About the RAM, so you think i should get this part:
Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX For $65.00??

Re: My new GTX 680 Rig.

@Avolio: Let us be clear from the start, this post written for the “Rig Builder”, the viewers, and not a reply on “Some Members Posts” just a clear message so they do not feel offended that just said.

In regard from where he did start his build to where we are standing now, a true “Gamer” will pick the first option with no denial but since that poor guy faced showers of recommendations hammering his head he did switch his options many times. It is not a bad thing to change your mind unless it is a “Better Option” but what I can see with all my respect to your “Choice” an “HTPC, Home Server Unit or anything else but a “Pure Gaming Machine” like “Thundermans Rig” and that due to “Bad Hardware Choice”.

A-Are you facing a dilemma between “K Chips” or “None-K’s” here is the answer, do not ever pick a “None-K Chip” unless for “Business / HTPC / Home Server Unit purposes since there is no need for “K Chips” unlike “Gaming”. “Today’s Games” had dramatically changed “Users Thoughts” yet even forced them to revalue their “Hardware Needs” and “Gaming” is “OC Related” more than any time therefore, having a “K Chip” inside your “Rig” is not to empty your pockets in fact it is more towards “Justifying” your whole purpose of purchase. Why you want to pay 256$ T.T.C on something that you will never be able to “HAVE FUN WITH” and on the other side adding extra “FPS” to get yourself a “Joyful Experience” like a pro gamer. Conclusion if a certain place does not have a particular item, which is a common thing in here thus, other places might have it. Just a side note, nowadays overclocking is so easy that a grandma can achieve 4.7GHz on a “SB or IVB Platform”. Not saying this in a “Hurtful Way” instead, I am encouraging you to get the “K”, start missing around, and believe me you might be afraid at first but when you get used to it you will never use any other chip.

B-Tt V4 Chassis, Mate what are you kidding me? Ok, I can understand there is a “Certain Budget Limit” but if you get the “Gigabyte Sumo” that would be a far better option. Do you want me to believe with the lack of “Airflow” that if there is “Airflow” it will not raise your temperatures after 2 or 3 months? That is certainly a bad choice.

C-No SSD but Extra 2TB Storage, Mate again why? You could buy a 1TB HDD, with a low storage SSD and surely get an “External HDD” to save all your data and other things. One thing for sure “SSD’s” are a must in every “Gaming Rig” no need to “Raid Them” but for sure your experience would have changed with the inclusion of an “SSD” which is in fact cheaper from the “HDD’s” and gamers worldwide are purchasing SSD’s instead of HDD’s nowadays.

D-Inno3D GTX 680, I am 100% it is not i-Chill Model that means it is the “Vanilla Edition” thus, you could get an “EVGA SC” for 780$ T.T.C. and save 30$ for a better chassis. All you had to do is to check mate since prices are been updated without a notice.

E-The 700W is fair enough for now thus, if you take into consideration and a fact that the “Rig Power Consumption” will definitely change after 1-year of usage. What I mean is when “Hardware” gets old power consumption raises therefore, a fatter “PSU” is always better to keep feeding your rig with the right amount of power for several years.

Conclusion, if you made that purchase than i hope you will have fun, if not well rethink about the points above make up your mind and you know what to do. As I said, earlier above, everyone has his own opinion either right or wrong, regarding anything not just hardware, which is also a typical scenario in here but the sad thing is we “Lebanese People” if we agreed on one thing just for once I think a better future within our reach.

Peace.

It is coming...

Since when were K chips necessary for gaming ? Avolio will not overclock or play with bells and whistles of stuff like that. He just wants a PC that can run BF3 online smoothly and nothing more (He said so himself)
Furthermore, a K series processor and a non-K series processor are identical. One is not better than the other, they are completely identical. The only difference is that the K series have an unlocked memory multiplier, which makes you adjust the FSB Clockk speed to overclock your CPU. Meaning, when you're not going to OC, you don't need to spend the extra 40$ (Or 100$ in Lebanon's case) Because that will just be a waste of money.

The V3/V4 or any other case that have the same bare-bone chassis are all about air flow. They have 2x12CM fan holes at the top, one at the back, front and bottom and plus another one on the side for graphics cards and may I say you can still add another 12CM there which makes a total of 6x12CM Fans in such a case. The Gigabyte Sumo α is almost twice the price and has just 2 fan holes. How does that mean more airflow ?

Avolio doesn't need an SSD for two reasons:
1- He's not going to see any performance increase in games (Except for loading times)
2- He won't be using any video rendering and other software which might need such speed.

So for 200$ extra he's just going to have faster boot ups and faster load times, which is just not worth it.

Although I'm with you on the 1TB storage thing. I tried to explain why he doesn't need a 2TB HDD and why it's overkill but he insisted on getting the 2TB drive to make it future proof, because the games will already use quite alot of storage, not to mention he has alot of personal data.

Again, he is not willing to overclock anything and having that option does not make it better. But you are correct about the EVGA card, but it will be a hassle for him because he wants to buy all the parts at once from one place for personal reasons.

The rig which he's getting can be powered with a 500W PSU (Recommended by Nvidia themselves) That's why he chose the 700W PSU to make it have lots of headroom.

Me and Avolio researched and thought about each part he chose for 2 months and these parts that he chose seemed to be the best he could get for the money.

Please don't take anything I written personally, I'm just sharing thoughts.

Re: My new GTX 680 Rig.

A-Well “K Chips” have been from day one “Gamers N: 1 Choice” since as I said earlier “Gaming is OC Related” nowadays and who does not like to get a few extra frames.

B-The sumo is bigger, that means the air can circle far much better and not to forget the “HIGH QUALITY OF Tt Fans” that a 5 years old kid can stop them in his hands. On the other side “Gigabytes Fans” far more better in terms of “Quality / CFM”.

C-Why “Gamers” are buying something that not worth it. Anyway, regarding the price who said it is for 200$? Just recheck.

D-What hassle? In addition, what personal thing… anyway as long he is happy it is good for him.

E-Who said it could not be thus, I was clear it is good for now but he might end up needing more power in the future and I also mentioned why.

My recommendations come after lots of “Hardware Testing”, that helps users to determine what to get, and what to steer clear off.

What is the thing behind the “Personal Word”, anyway good for him and hope he will enjoy it.

Peace.

Re: My new GTX 680 Rig.

Ok,
So first of all, about overclocking. I have never used and played on overclocked systems, neither i know how the process works, nor i know if it will affect my gaming and for how long will it last.
The only thing i know about overclocking is that its biggest disadvantage is to probably ruin the CPU, and i am NOT willing to take that chance. In every part of my rig.

Yes i want a nice strong fast rig that can support BF3 online not only smoothly, but way much better than that.
But note, that BF3 is the main reason that i want to build this rig, that doesnt mean that i wont flood my PC with MANY other games !   That is why i chose the 2TB HDD, along with my already big huge files that i have, and that the 500GB HDD of my laptop is starting to scream and cry.
About the SSD, IF somehow i change my mind and decide to get one, i will use it for sure for gaming storage only.
So is it really worth it to get a low storage SSD (lets say 128GB, or 256GB which i consider low as well) for gaming storage??

Regarding the Case, i dont know which one to get. But i want it below 100$. There are a few good choices, but still dont know which one to choose.

And for the PSU, i actually decided to get a 850W powered one.  I just forgot to update it in the topic.

And finally, i still did NOT order anything from the specs of the rig,
Except the PCE UPS and a BF3 game copy (for determination of building my rig).

So @Tarek,  after hearing it from me, that i do not wish to overclock anything,
and that i want a rig build only for strong and massively sized MANY games,
Which specs do YOU think i should get, or consider getting ... ?!

Re: My new GTX 680 Rig.

Mate, regarding the “OC Part”, if you are interested in doing so I am ready to help you out from “A to Z” with no benefits at all. Believe me, that will make your purchase future proof, and wont drive you bored after a month or two.

Indeed, the “128GB / 256GB SSD” are a “Must Have” in every “Rig” and since you will flood, the “Rig” with lots of games “Flight Simulator” might be one of these, you will notice the difference and here is how. HDD’s are mechanical operated therefore the spinning is not “Constant” instead they “Spins up and Down”, when that happens you will notice some lag and you could evade that with an “SSD”. Flight Simulator is one example.

Regarding my recommendation, well as I said earlier above, go back to the first option with minor changes here and there and you know where to check mate.

Peace.
