Fellow geeks, I'm stuck again. I need a .com name for the online store I'm building. It's like all the .com stores names are taken. Gets harder every day. So, any suggestions for a good name? A geeky catchy name would be nice, but doesn't have to be geeky. So, anyone? Anything? Please do check the name's availability before posting. Appreciated!

961store.com or 961shop.com perhaps?

Thank you, Geek. I already have a bunch of 961 sites. It's just that there's a lot of those 961 sites out there today, I thought I'd go for something different. I did however register the 961store.com, just in case we couldn't land anything better.

Tsawwa2.com
It's available.

Who are you targeting? (region, age group, computer literacy, etc..)

I'm going to start with small electronics, peripherals, computer parts... Then work my way up to toys and games. Mostly geeky society stuff.

amazon-961.com or amazon961.com (available, and if you get really lucky and good, maybe get bought out by amazon :) )
961geeks.com since someone apparently took the the lebgeeks.com name. :)
961store.com (repeated, but I like it), 961-store
lots of the 961's seem available right now.

I'm sorry but I seriously dislike "961" in the domain name and definitely hate that trend of arabic words in latin characters.
If i were to pick one I'd go with something like cedarbuy.com
1- It has the lebanese 'icon' in the name.
2- It doesn't use a code to identify it.
3- If the store works out, it can expand internationally without conflicting with the name.
I hope you find what you're looking for.

Im with cedarbuy.com i liked it and also Arabic in Latin letters is revolting to some people, so it is better if you don't use them stick to English.

How about electrosouk?

Nabs don't revolve this on the site name. You need to do a market research on a name that would go to with future products. Also if you want to target outside countries they have to relate to the site and more importantly can pronounce it.( best example is Kodak, it can be pronounced in any country in the world and it is not associated with another meaning)
P.S. I tried nabs.com nabs tore.com but both are taken.
But newnabs.com Is available

i totally agree with gamer, the name amazon does not have anything to do with online shopping and i'm still trying to figure out what flickr means... godaddy just to name a few
don't target the lebanese people coz you are not living in russia or china where you can get a huge traffic.... lebanese people won't visit your site in big numbers, want a proof? isn't mtv.com.lb one of the biggest lebanese sites? see this article
14 views, no comments, you can't rely on traffic coming from lebanon to build a successful site. I consider lebgeeks developers to be extremely lucky to be able to maintain an active community...

Lebshack.com
Leb-shack.com
Lebatronics.com
Leb-store-on.com

How about (If it's OK with Samer)
Merge your store with LebGeeks.
LebGeeks has the Forum section , right ? Well, now it would have a store section aswell.

Fellow geeks, I appreciate you taking the time to put me out of my miserable confusion. I did however decide to go with 961store.com. I already have a bunch of 961 sites, I thought I'd add this to them. Check out the basic site layout. Script provided by X-Cart, tweaked slightly.

OK, back to the drawing board. The whole e-commerce thing gave me a headache after 2 selling days. I can't keep up with the orders, inventory, bills, delivery, and refunds. So, 961store.com is out of the window. I decided to go for a different approach. Something like an item of the day sort of thing. Every day, one single hot product for a good price. What do you think? Any names we could get for that?

I dunno how much sales you will do that way, how profitble it would be...
One item could be desired by many, but not all will have a chance to log on that day, and would miss the chance of buying that item, and you would miss out on sales.
If you want that one item approach, keep it on for atleast a week maybe..

You are a product of your own success--see if you outsource a fulfillment company for a time to take care of the backoffice stuff. That will give you enough time to determine whether or not it will be profitable enough for you to start hiring employees down the road. People don't realize how hard it is to start a business properly.
As for the item of the day thing, I think it would work better if you had other things to offer too. You could increase your traffic with the deal of the day and they could buy other things in stock related to the daily deal. Just my 2 cents (or 30LL).

Maybe you can find a freshly dropped domain name that suits you on freshdrop.com
I looked for "store", for example, and found "3pcstore.com" (expires in 8 hours):

Maybe try do something close to pcandparts, where you put up a catalog, and an email. Those who want to buy something they send you an email confirming what they want, and you deliver it to them using Aramex or something. This way you won't go into the "e-commerce" headache, and they will pay upon delivery.

You can automate most of the process. Think about it, everything you are going to be doing is repetitive. This only makes sense if you're getting enough business to justify the overheard of putting the automation in place. If there isn't enough business, maybe you're in the wrong market (e.g., it is not mature enough). Ref: http://mizalla.com

Fellow geeks, I have registered the domain name 961store.com and currently working on my inventory items, soon to be uploaded. I will be using this same post thread, if Samer permits of course, to promote my merchandise. So, kindly, do visit this thread every now and then to check for new stuff that might interest you. I didn't open a new thread, seeing that this one's already here and I don't want to hog the forum. So, first offer, this week only even though not that big of a deal:
Brand new factory unlocked iPhone 4G 16GB for 560$
Brand new factory unlocked iPhone 4G 32GB for 590$
Those interested, PM me.

congratulations, just checked it, still a little empty from items but your still uploading so can't complain.
Wich you the best of luck:D

Will the purchases be held by credit card or cash ? Is shipping available ? Will there be any offices available so that one could pick something up themselves ?
Also what type of products will you be selling ? Will you have components like motherboards ,hard drives or other equipment ? Or just finished goods , like laptops phones etc ?

I'm currently working on resolving my issues with the finance department. I want all to be 100% legit and safe. I want to be able to offer real warranties with pride, and force my suppliers to commit to their contracts. There will be all, in due time of course.
